20:20 - I hear "as distinctly as if you were not visible", I think if should be "invisible"
Ha ha ha :D
Yes I think I'll be fixing that one. Boy, Perseus's magical helmet of visibility that makes you obvious and clearly seen by everyone for miles around - I sure could have used one of those when I used to ride motorcycles. I would have had far fewer cars pull out in front of me...

The volume is a little bit loud, around 92. Please reduce by approximately 3.
Okey dokey. I'll have to do some testing, as MP3Gain doesn't seem to be available in Ubuntu any more. I'll go back and find a test file that I can use to set a value for the Audacity Contrast tool (I think it does the same calculation as MP3Gain, but gives you a different figure). I can then check each file before I send it.
Great reading!! I'm looking forward to next installment :D

Thanks - it's fun to read too. It'll be along this evening - I'll need to check the level.

I've uploaded the next section [section 3 - file 4]. I did some experimenting with a copy of mp3gain on an old windows laptop, and I think that -22dB measured on Audacity's Contrast tool is approximately the same as 89dB measured on mp3gain. It's a bit difficult to tell, as it doesn't seem to be an exact match :? (I guess the way the two programs calculate the RMS average is slightly different :hmm: ).

This file measured -22.3dB, so it might be very slightly below 89dB. I'd be interested in what you measure it to be!

thanks

I've fixed section 2 [file 3]

I've re-read Quicksilver's last speech in it's entirety [so you can't hear the join]:
"Oh, it is my sister's!" answered Quicksilver. "She is coming along
with us, as I told you she would. We could do nothing without the help
of my sister. You have no idea how wise she is. She has such eyes,
too! Why, she can see you, at this moment, just as distinctly as if
you were not invisible; and I'll venture to say, she will be the first
to discover the Gorgons."
I also amped down the whole file by 3dB as you suggested.

I've uploaded the corrected file for your perusal.

Many thanks

Section 3, file 4 is PL OK (I have to admit I'm mildly confused by these numbers  ). It registered at MP3Gain as 89, so, in other words, perfect :)

I just noticed this. I have fixed the MW so that the file numbers and section numbers are the same - in other words, giving it a section 0. This should make things more straightforward. :)
School fiction: David Blaize
America Exploration: The First Four Voyages of Amerigo Vespucci
Serial novel: The Wandering Jew
Medieval England meets Civil War Americans: Centuries Apart

I noticed a misread in section 4. Normally I wouldn't bother with little words but this misread makes the meaning a bit strange! I read:
"I did not promise you even one, you foolish little Cowslip!" said
Eustace, half pettishly. "However, I suppose you must have it. This is
the consequence of having earned a reputation! I wish it were a great
deal duller than I am, or that I had never shown half the bright
qualities with which nature has endowed me; and then I might have my
nap out, in peace and comfort!"
Of course I should have read "I" instead of "it"

I've made the change and uploaded a new file 4 ready for spot PL at 03:55

thanks

Section 4 and 5 are both PL OK! Yes, that word in section 4, I did wonder whether to comment on it... I'm glad you fixed it :D

I'm happy for you to comment on small stuff (actually very very pleased if you do - I'm aiming for quality not quantity!), but if it is a small fault I will make a judgement whether the improvement is worth the inevitable risk that I may not be able to make a perfect edit (which will also stand out). For this reason sometimes I may decide to leave a small stumble in. It depends on the individual fault.

Hope real life went well!

Hehe, real life is good! I have shifted continent and fought off an infection. Lol, I prefer to get everything done all at once...

Good to know, I will freely comment - I tend to be reluctant to do so with readers I haven't worked with much, because I don't want them to feel that they have to do edits on a perfectionist level... But now I know that you will consider the work and the quality and the risks involved
