jscottbennett wrote:Thanks for the kind feedback! Seems I have made a newbie mistake, however. When I exported the files I didn't save the original audacity file for these poems. :-) This gives me a chance to go back and re-do them both and make them better. I think I may be sitting too far from the mic. I'm going to change my recording environment and try to take care of the sound. If that doesn't bring the sound level up, I will do it within audacity. I too noticed the birds but couldn't persuade them to go away. Hopefully locating to a different room will reduce some of the background noise. I should have these two redone and ready by the end of the day. Thanks.

That's fine if you want to do it that way, but you can always download the files from the Magic Window Just right click on Listen on your section, then Save Link As. That's what I do when I proof listen. So, I have a copy on my computer that I can send you.

But, I often will redo these short pieces depending on what needs to be done. Mic position and volume settings can be tricky. I do the best I can and then rely on Audacity to adjust things as needed. I use the Checker program to check volume when I listen, but I know use the ReplayGain plugin when I record to get a quicker feedback on volume adjustment.

Don't worry too much about those birds -- just scarcely noticeable.

Thanks for your good work, Scott!

Thanks, Larry. I didn't realize I could plug the MP3 back in to audiacity. I will trim and boost the audio and see if that works. Otherwise I will re-record.

Here are the links to 10 and 11 respectively. Didn't have to re-record after all. Got the sound up to about 89. Trimmed a little. Hope it turns out ok.

thank you scott!

please always save your files until you get the PL OK. i personally save mine indefinitely, just to be certain. its fine to re-record a poem of five minutes, but if you recorded a short story an hour long, you dont want to take any chances :)

I noticed sections 10 and 11 are still showing up red in the magic window. I re-submitted them with corrections (I thought). Do I need to go back to the drawing board with these?

Thanks.

Tina,

Your Section 6 is much better now, so I'm marking it PL OK.

These two sections are also fine except that you omitted "This recording in the public domain" from your "outro." Should be easy to tack onto the end of these.

Upload and post a note here with the new running times.

Then, find a couple more of these poems to read for us!

Thanks.
Hi Larry!
Hopefully now everything is fixed, and i finished my last section, too. ;)

Section 68: https://librivox.org/uploads/carolin/earlypoems_68_lowell.mp3 (1:19)
Section 69: https://librivox.org/uploads/carolin/earlypoems_69_lowell.mp3 (1:19)

Thank you!!
