Good Cheer Stories Every Child Should Know by Asa Don Dickinson (1876 - 1960).

This Wonderful Project is complete and in our catalog at https://librivox.org/good-cheer-stories-every-child-should-know-by-asa-don-dickinson/
This charming book has many stores that deal mostly with the holiday of Thanksgiving, perfectly suited for family reading. It gathers in one volume tales of tasty turkeys, festive parties, generous gestures, and holiday cheer. The stories are marked for those the younger listener would enjoy more and those older children might prefer. These Stories featured include works by such writers as Harriet Beecher Stowe, George Eliot, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and others. So if you want to read some stories that bring out gratitude for life and a thanksgiving attitude, here are a bunch of the best. ( Phil chenevert)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/19909
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/19909
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!
(Note.—The stories marked with a star (*) will be most enjoyed by younger children; those marked with a (†) are better suited to older children.)

PS - the second text link in the first post at point four I think is wrong. The first one works though!

Certainly, section 19 is yours. And thanks for the link error. If you notice any more please let me know. I used the solo template by mistake and had to spend an hour trying to 'fix' it. I'm sure there are other little problems left <sigh> That's what I get for working at midnight.

I'd like sections 1, 3, 6, 8 and the short 14.

Thanks!

You got 'em, mate. Enjoy.

EDIT: Just a question: did the story descriptions help you choose? If so, I might do that for more projects.

Yes, story descriptions in the MW were a huge help. Saved me much time in reviewing the whole book to see the sections I'm best suited for.

Hi Br0ck, and welcome to LibriVox and to this project. Your test was fine (I just OKed it) so I am assigning those three stories to you to record. Ask if you have any questions.

Oh, and how would you like to be credited in the catalog? What name would you like? Most of us use our real names but it can be your forum name or whatever is your choice. Image
