In His Steps by Charles Monroe Sheldon (1857 - 1946).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/in-his-steps-version-2-dramatic-reading-by-charles-monroe-sheldon/
After a strange event at the Raymond First Church, Reverend Henry Maxwell asks his congregation a startling question: Will they pledge to try and do only what Jesus would for an entire year? Even more important, however, is the question: Who will follow through the whole way? ( Adele de Pignerolles)
  • PL (parts): Adele de Pignerolles
    Editor: Adele de Pignerolles
PL (edited acts): Esther ben Simonides
    Narrator: GKSpeaks

    1. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    2. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    3. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/4540
    5. Please claim roles (the numbers in the first column below)! Please note: All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. When you submit your recording, you will be placing your recording in the public domain as well.

If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Just a couple notes:

1. You may claim as many parts as you like, as long as they are not in the same chapter (i.e. not Henry Maxwell and Edward Norman).

2. For the choir, there is one song/verse in the first chapter. I will be the soprano, but will need the other parts. Please listen to my recording so that the tempos end up the same.

3. Words and music for the songs can be found in the MW.

I can MC this for you.

MW is up and tested. I added a few extra lines for you just in case.

You should consider removing the _128kb from the file names for the roles inhissteps_[role]_[#]_128kb.mp3 as some of the names will get pretty long.

inhissteps_letterwriter1_1.mp3
inhissteps_letterwriter1_1_128kb.mp3

Only the final chapter files need the _128kb in the name.
inhissteps_Chapter01_128kb.mp3

moving this over to Dramatic Works

Great project! I loved this book when I read it - which was so long ago I don't remember it very well. I'd be interested in reading Mrs Mary Maxwell, I think.

Thank you! I'll fix the file names. I didn't know if the _128kb had to be there for every single file.

It is only needed for the files that will be going into the Librivox catalog.

Actually, now that the scripts are up, I think I'd prefer to be Rose Sterling please. Sorry, as I said, I just don't remember the book very well!

(Or I could do both if you like - Mary Maxwell isn't a very big part.)
