The link in the MW should work. The one in the forum will not because we have shortened the filenames. Here's the link to your file

Hi Eduard -

Thanks for that. I occasionally find that the auto-notification doesn't work too.

MW updated.

is this background noise ok

Hi Billy -

I'm not Jo, but if I were listening, I would find that level of background noise quite distracting.

If you aren't able to eliminate it by getting rid of environmental noise (you might want to unplug your computer, and move your microphone as far as possible from the fan too) and if you are using Audacity to make your recordings, and if you have a reasonably uniform section of that background noise, you can use the Noise Removal tool to dampen it down throughout the whole recording.

There are links with plenty of suggestions in http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Newbie_Guide_to_Recording.

Hope this is helpful?

I agree with Gail, but this is too short of a sample for me to make any suggestions for filters or noise removal settings.

In addition to the link that Gail posted for you, here is a link to the Noise Removal section in the wiki, but you should first try and reduce some of the background by adjusting your recording surroundings if possible.

Hi Nathan (aka Kid.....)

Thanks for that!

It's no biggy, but..... One thing -- I'm sure that Jo can fix this one when cataloguing, but when you do your next chapter (which is Section 07 I think) can you please have a look at the file name convention used? Rather than putting in the chapter title, can you please put in the section number?

I just listened to the first couple of minutes of your recording - not PLing - but sounds good.

Cheers

PL notes for chapter 3:
-from 23:37 to 24:05, all of the gr.'s should be "grains" not "grams"

Just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten y'all - I've recorded my sections (on camp cookery), but I need to edit it before sharing it. I'm hoping to get to it this week.
