Sorry for the delay--I had a nasty virus that turned into a sinus infection and completely scrapped my recording plans.
Chapters 2 & 3 are up!

Just checked and you're right, it's not there.
Unfortunately, I can't update the first post, since I wasn't the original BC.
Here's the link for the source text: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/28544
Feel free to check me on anything that doesn't sound right!
Thanks,

Don't know how we missed that before. Anyway, I added the link to the first post.

Yes, and I'm so sorry! I've only had about a week between sinus infections lately, and they seem to keep dragging on forever. I'm on some new allergy medicines now, so I hope that will help.
I did get some chapters recorded the last time I was in the clear, and I kept hoping I'd get to editing them and have something to post the next time I was on, but I haven't even felt up to editing recently. I'll try to get some of them up soon.
Thanks,

At long last, I've finally managed to edit chapter 4!
Thanks for your patience! Hopefully I'll stay in the clear for a little while now...

Finally hit a productive spurt! (Still a little soon to call it a streak, but here's hoping...)
Chapters 5-8 are up!

P.S.--Please forgive my horrible Swedish accent in the last one. I struggled and struggled with it, and the best I could do was edit out the parts where I slipped into very definite Irish. But they made such a big deal of the Swedish connection that I felt duty-bound to try...

5-8 PL OK.
Volumes are 89.7, 87.1, 86.4 and 88.7, respectively. A 3dB difference is acceptable but a larger difference may require the listener to adjust the volume between chapters. I suspect (like me) most listeners have only a vague idea of what a Swedish accent sounds like.

I can adjust the volumes during cataloging with the click of a button as long as they are not too far off; but do try to get them close to 89 during recording.

I'm so sorry I've been missing in action so long!
I'm dealing with what seems to have become a set of chronic health problems, and the last several months have been especially bad. I don't want to give up on this project, but it may be pretty slow going for a while. I'll try to be more faithful about checking in, though, even if I haven't recorded anything.
As far as the volume goes, I've done everything I know to get the input volume up, but I still have to amplify just about every chapter. I don't know a way to get a volume level in Audacity itself, so I've been using the suggested amplification and relying on the Checker program to make sure it's in the acceptable range. Hopefully it's not too far off to be fixed during cataloging; if so, I'll try to work with them a little more.
All that said, chapter 9 is up!

Reader has disappeared. I have removed myself as MC and craigdave1 as DPL (though he may still be interested if another reader is found).
The files have been moved to the Abandoned folder, sayandseal.
