It would take you to notice that. Very perceptive.
OK, I'm missing the joke here. I'm not finding "Tormparpt" and the interesting reading. Someone, please direct me to the exit?
One does not usually find titles to individual LV posts, but anyway, this one is titled:
Answer to Kaffen's Recent Post, or, No Exit

Apologies. The "exit" you're looking for is the entrance. As we all know there are often misunderstandings in list-serves and BB's and forums and such, because it's difficult to catch nuances. So, people sometimes misinterpret, conflating nastiness and sarcasm and good-naturedness and tomfoolery and simplemindedness and looniness and foots in mouths andwhateverelse. Misinterpretation is not uncommon. We're ALL a good muncha folks here. Those that aren't are surreptitiously requested to listen to 45 minutes of TBOL3 reading LV stats.

A helpful hint on the LV Forums is: If CloudMountain's involved and it doesn't make sense, it's surely a joke of some kind (or a sad attempt at such.). He's as subtle as the sands of the Sahara and his humor as hollow as a Pre-Cambrian Cabernet. He means well, but gets carried away. There are several others here that can't seen to, well, keep their mouth's shut either. Remember, LV's not only addictive, it's also therapeutic. CM's unpredictable and sometimes it's hard to catch on. There are some, like Monsieur EarthCalling, who treat CM's messages as Easteregghunts. When one is found, they volley them back, usually waiting for the egg to reasonably rot before returning it. (BTW: The dead giveaway in the list of contributors was the long list of illiterative names. (Surely an improbably occurance. (Although once we had 53 readers with the name Bob and none of them would settle for anything less than (or more than) "Bob" as a username. (It was a mess for awhile.) We solved the problem by adding a b to the end of each new user.) It became very time consuming counting all the b's.) I don't have to tell you...) [Think I left out a closed parenthesis somewhere.]

All in good fun.

Is this helpful? :9:

It took 3 tries, but I got my recording uploaded on cloudmountain's uploader. For some reason, the uploader or opera added some gobbledegook characters for the file name. Otherwise I think it uploaded ok.

Thanks for the contribution Sean goodness knows what the gobbledegook is. It can through fine ne're-the-less. A minor thing: would've be nice to have true silence before and after the recording. Does your H4 have a gate or compressor on it that will cut out the ambient room sounds when it's recording and you'rew not speaking? Just a suggestion.

Thanks again!

I was tryng an experiment. I upped the gain on the mics to see if I could get a warmer, more natural vocal tone. I think it did. Unfortunately you heard the button presses on the H4 and a bit of room noise. I'll try again with the onboard compressor turned off and only the limiter on. I'll also send one with the gain on the mics off.

Interesting. I'd like to hear the differences. (And hopefully you won't get all those extra letters this time! I won't be able to move the file until this evening, so do as you wish!)

I'm also trying to train myself with the weekly poetry to do it in one take straight to mp3 without editing. I am so picky and nervous when I'm reading that I frequently make many pauses and re-runs. Then it takes 4-5 times the length of the recording to do the editing. I'm trying to speed up the process by 'getting it right the first time.'

The files are here. I'm posting to the thread on the H4 for feedback on the technical aspects of these 4 recordings. -- Sorry for the crossposting but technical discussion of the H4 should be over there. http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5329&highlight=

Here They are:
1) Mid Gain on Mics with compressor on:

2) Mid gain on Mics with only limiter on

3) No gain on Mics with only limiter on
http://www.mediafire.com/?6djhzz2jj1u
4) No gain on mics with compressor on

Alan- Pick one for the weekly poetry.

Here's mine, a little quiet and flat, but that's what I was going for. ^_^

I put it off to the end of the week, hoping my cold would be gone. It's not but oh well!

Sorry, been out of town and missed the post. Yes, catalog name Laurie Anne Walden is fine since I have no plans to post embarrassing personal details here. Or anywhere else for that matter. :)

Thanks too, LibraryLady.

Don't see you listed in the wiki List O fReaders Catalog Names. What names would you like to use in the catalog? Some folks use their screen names (to remain not so public) and others use their "real" names or a variation there of.

(Take a look here: http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/ListOfReadersCatalogNames)

Thanks Alan
