Thanks! :D
Thank you, this is much better. There is just one sentence that isn't clear at 01:07 "but I see there was a little over" (as in, a little bit of juice left over). If you could clear that up, then I think you will be all done!

Beth,

Altamont is PL OK. You did very good in your American accent! I can only image how hard that would be! It sounded a little southreny/slang, which was a good voice for this character. :D

Funny story: When I was listening to the Bible for Young People the chapters you read. A friend who's a mom walks in speaking in a British accent said, "oh, if I listen to her, I'd be speaking in an accent all day!" I laughed and told her you were from AUS... :D I love listening to you read stuff though, because I think it's fascinating to listen for the difference between the British and Australian accent! Not to mention you're a read wonderfully fluid!

I'm very relieved to hear that. I struggled a lot with this - it is much easier for me to modify my normal accent to sound slightly British than to attempt an American accent. I listened to lots of YouTube videos on the Irish-Chicago accent, but found I couldn't do it at all. So I fell back on my "generic American" accent and crossed my fingers that it would sound OK!

Whew! Now that's over, I'll go back to my usual accent training videos and do the rest of my Holmes parts in my UK accent - that'll be a relief. I can only do one accent at a time or I lose track. Unlike my sister, who was once in a play which required her to switch back and forth every scene!

My normal accent is not a broad Aussie one anyway, and when I record I try to make my voice a little more precise with the consonants, so I'm half-way to sounding British already - I can see why your friend was confused, particularly in that very old-style language of the Bible recording! I just need to modify the very Aussie "o" and "i" sounds, particularly in words like "night" and "nice" or it comes out sound like "noight" and "noice". I train my ear by listening to Cori's Watson files sometimes - I covet her "Home Counties" accent! :9:

PL notes for Complete Chapter 3:

@11:34 there is a paragraph missing from Miss Cushing (Shakira) which starts: "Indeed I have, sir...

(I've checked Shakira's file, and the lines are there, so hopefully it is just a matter of editing them in.)

There are some odd clicking noises in the silence at the end, but if that is difficult to fix it probably doesn't matter that much.

And if you can remember to fix the file format when you make the corrections, please Piotrek, that would be wonderful! hislastbow_03_doyle_128kb

Culverton Smith, sneering wretch that he is:
https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/hislastbow_08_smith.mp3
Length: 9:22

There is one line missing from this:

HOLMES:"I'm too ill to think."
SMITH: "Well, then, I'll help you. Did anything come by post?"
HOLMES:"By post?"

I mis-recorded it as "I'll help you out." I'll re-do that one and upload it as an addendum; it seemed to make more sense to give you the rest, since the rest of the chapter is ready.

I also managed to expand "What's the meaning of this?" at 8'40" (p.14) into "What is..." It's up to you whether you'd like me to re-record it; it's a small difference, but I'm already uploading an addendum, so... :)

The Narrator for Ch. 12 is recorded; I just need to finish editing and it'll be up!

And those two lines from Culverton Smith, Ch. 8:

Length: 0:13

(I did "What's the meaning of this" as well, since it was so short.)
