COMPLETE [DRAM.READ] His Last Bow (Sherlock Holmes) - rap
I agree - this is one of those stories which gets better when you read/listen to it the second time, since you already know "whodunnit" you can take the time to appreciate all the nuances of their earlier comments! That goes for Dr Sterndale too.mousehawk wrote:I had such a great evil-villain voice planned for him to begin with... but hurt innocence made him seem all the slimier.

However I've only got 5:25 minutes uploaded. Possibly something went wrong during the upload, as I see the file is supposed to be 8:09 long. Would you mind uploading it again, and I'll PL the rest. It's all PL OK so far!

This is my very first recording, so please let me know if I need to do anything differently. Feedback is appreciated! I'll be working on Mrs. Peters next. I don't mind if K. Cotter sounds like "Kay Cotter."
Thanks for all your hard work,

First recording is lovely and PL OK! Lovely and clear, expressive and dramatic! If this is what you do with just a few words I can't wait to see what you do with a bigger part!kcotter13 wrote:Here is Mary:

I will just note that you don't need to read the legal disclaimers, introduction, chapter headings or anything else. The narrator will read all that into the finished file - this makes dramatic readings a bit different to normal "chapter" readings. You just need your voice credit and the parts colour coded for you - although I find it helpful as the DPL if you also mention which chapter it is, just as a cross-check.
So for your next part you can just say "Mrs Peters read by K. Cotter" (she only appears in one chapter, but if it was Inspector Lestrade or another recurring character it would also be good to say "Chapter 9" or whatever.)
Looking forward to hearing it!

Here's a short and sweet preface: https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/hislastbow_00_watson.mp3 (1:21)
And here's Section 1: https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/hislastbow_01_watson.mp3 (8:13) ... in this one I recorded the telegram, since Watson often ends up doing that sort of thing, but if it works better as Holmes, just delete.

There's honestly no such thing as a stupid question -- but I'm afraid I can't rule out giving a stupid answer : : To Posterity and Beyond!

I haven't decided yet if the Preface will actually be a separate chapter or rolled into Chapter 1 - it depends how long the final Ch 1 ends up.

Section 1 is PL OK - and I agree with you about the 2nd telegram. The first telegram was read by Holmes (as it says in the text) but the 2nd is clearly read by Watson - that's a miscolouring of the text there.
However we don't have a voice credit for you - this time around since the stories are all done separately and not with combined characters, I'm doing a voice credit at the start of each story, so we need "Dr John Watson ready by Cori Samuels" at the start of each story please! If you are using the Google docs, this is written in.
I think you are right to call them "sections" rather than "chapters" as we did last time. Let's stick with that!

Would it be awkward if I didn't add a voice credit to every chapter? I figure people are hearing the disclaimer in my voice anyway, so ...
And if that's okay, then here's section 2 https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/hislastbow_02_watson.mp3 (14:50)
