Elizabby wrote:I'd like to suggest one more DR. This is a classic Australian piece but it is very long to do as a proper DR. I have in mind to read it as a solo one day, but in the meantime here is Chapter 27, "The Valley of the Shadow of Death".

* For the Term of His Natural Life by Marcus Clarke
* PD text link: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/3424/3424-h/3424-h.htm
* Link to author on Wikipedia, and death date, if known: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcus_Clarke (died 1881)
* Link to title on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/For_the_Term_of_His_Natural_Life
* Number of roles (including narrator) this project will have: 6
* Original publication date: 1874
* The list of characters in your DR:

Narrator (me)
Jemmy Vetch “The Crow” (the leader of the escaped convicts)
Gabbett (the giant, a ruthless killer, experienced at attempting escape)
Alick Sanders “The Moocher” (a previous accomplice of Gabbett)
Greenhill (another escaped convict)
Tom Bodenham (the first convict to be killed by the others. A small part.)

I would prefer a male voice for Gabbett, but the rest of the cast can be gender neutral.

Colour-coded script is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FF35cnRGPP0aZdts-aBkvRDjgVM97Iq9P2wOnbLNeWw/edit?usp=sharing

Piotrek, would you be prepared to edit this one for me as well? I'll do the PLing.
Great.

When you say it is very long, are you meaning you need two parts? If so, who is in each part?

Thanks, Todd

No, I meant that the whole book is very long, and not very suited to a DR for exactly the reasons you outline in the first post - but this chapter is relatively dramatic! It should all fit in one part, no problem.

Ah, great. That makes sense now (compared with my very early morning reading).

Shadow of Death posted, also the PL OK for Nora!

(Note to Elizabby - I can't get your narrator claim to take. Will try again later at home.)

Thanks, Todd

Be sure to put the number 2 in your file name for Part 2 so you don't overwrite this Part 1 file (which should have had a number 1 in the file name but that's okay).

Here is the narration for 'Coming Home'! 14:13
https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/drsceneandstoryvol001_cominghome_bruce_128kb.mp3

Am I supposed to ask someone to PL it, or should I just leave it, since this will be PLed later as the complete story? I am already editing the lines for the characters that I have into the file, but this is the original. If it is up to me, I don't really think it needs PLed... I will likely catch any missing lines if there are any will editing the other lines in. Thanks for your help!

You do not need to have this PL'd since you are editing and will be going through it again and can fix anything while you edit. HOWEVER, there will need to be an independent PL of the complete assembled story once you are done.

OK, thank you! I realize it will need to be PLed once completed, but I guess that will be a while! :D

And here is Holmes part 2 for Scandal in Bohemia (14:49). I think I remembered how I processed the first one, but if it doesn't match just let me know and I can change it. (I always save the unprocessed files in case I need to re-record anything.) There were a couple of little word substitutions in this one, but as this is not a word-perfect project and they don't change the meaning I just went with it.
