Couldn't get rid of background hum. I tried noise remover but didn't seem to help much; maybe I need to change the settings?

I was using a pop filter, but still some pops. Maybe I was to close to mic.

Hello Sam! Thank you for your submissions!

Your background noise is not very disturbing. When Audacity's noise-removal doesn't work for me, I try auphonic.com It's a free online post-production service. It's good to know there's a plan b.
The pops were very few. Mostly in the Ks I think. You can experiment with different mic placement or something, but those are not disturbing either. I understand though how we strive for the best we can :D

Congrats on your first recordings!

Kathrine will give it a proper PL and might have some advice of her own too.

(Thank you, Kathrine ;) )

Here's section 23 https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/ngm03_23_128kb.mp3 at 30:38
This has a lot of numbers, math and trigonometry, not very listener-friendly :hmm: I tried my best

I am interested in doing 9, 11 & 13 (but I could take contiguous sections if you'd prefer).

Hello, Ruth and Steve! Welcome to this project! :D
I'll sign you up for these sections. They are long sections, but I bet very interesting, so I hope you enjoy! Let me know if you need any help or if there are any questions (and I'll google them  )
Have fun recording!

Section 26 is PL OK! Very well done, Sam, neither the pops (which I heard very few of) nor the background hum is annoying or distracting. Thumbs up for the volume on the recording, too :)

I have uploaded section 9: https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/ngm03_09_128kb.mp3 27:33

I think I just used "section 9", where I should have said "part 3" in the intro.

For the actual reading, I used a different microphone (a Guitar Hero mic!) and won't do it again! If this needs to be redone, I can live with that!
