The Royal Book of Oz by Ruth Plumly Thompson (1891 - 1976) .
When the professor decides to outline the ancestry of the eminent people of Oz, Scarecrow feels left out. He doesn't have a family tree - unless you count the bean pole on which he had been placed when the farmer put him in the cornfield! So he decides to seek out his roots . . . which leads him, Dorothy, and the Cowardly Lion on adventures they never dreamed, meeting new friends (and foes) along the way. (Summary by TriciaG)
This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-royal-book-of-oz-dr-by-ruth-plumly-thompson/

MC: MaryAnnSpiegel (MaryAnn)
BC: Woolly Bee (Sarah)
DPL for submitted roles: fshort (Florence)
DPL for finished chapters: DrewJ (Drew)
Editors: Woolly Bee, peppersnoodles93, Kristingj, gschnurr, RobBoard, hdave - Thank you for all your hard work so far editors!!

Since this is a large project, we need a DPL for submitted lines and a separate DPL for finished chapters. That way, there will be a fresh ear to listen to the edited chapters.
    1. Is there a deadline?
We would like this to move along at a nice brisk pace, so we ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1 month of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after one month, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the one month deadline.
    2. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    3. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/30537 Text is scripted in Google Docs, with links in the MW.
    5. Please claim roles (the numbers in the first column below)! Please note: All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. When you submit your recording, you will be placing your recording in the public domain as well.

If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

This is an adopted project from here: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=48252

If you claimed a role back in August and have not submitted any files for it, I have orphaned your role. Please let me know if you'd like to reclaim it. :)

Since this is a large project, I feel that it would be best to have a DPL for submitted roles and a separate DPL for finished chapters. That way, there will be a fresh ear to listen to the edited chapters. Let me know if you'd like to volunteer to be a DPL.

I wondered what had happened to this! When I tried to find the thread to submit my part the whole project had disappeared!

But yes, I'd like to be the Woggle-Bug again please!

Hi! I'm not sure if I quite understand something. It says some of the parts are OPEN, but that they have been claimed on a certain date (?)
For example, Section 14.
If it is really open, I would like to request it?
Thanks!

Sarah,

I can MC this for you. I've moved all the existing files to my folder on the uploader, but none of the links in the MW are updated. If you have time, you're welcome to work through that. The format should be librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/[filename]

Sorry, I hadn't updated the MW yet. It is updated now, and section 14 is all yours! :)

Oh, OK - I missed that. Do you want the files re-exported as FLAC files? I can do that if it would help.

Sarah,

I noticed that Pokes (5) is listed in both section 10 and section 12. Is that a typo or meant to be a "crowd of voices"?
