[COMPLETE] First World War Centenary Collections-ruthieg
Ruth, I am a bit torn... I have found a brilliant little book with 6 stories (in German) by Andreas Latzko that would fit well in this collection (there is even a PD English translation) Latzko (a pacifist) fought in WWI for Austria-Hungary but became severely shell-shocked and later put his views and experiences into those stories (and some novels as well)
Now I don't know whether I should read 2 stories for your collection (making 3 contributions from me in total) and put the rest in the multilingual [or German] short works collections or do it completely as a separate solo? Any thoughts?

Well, I suppose you could record one story in English for this collection, and the whole book in German as a solo... or vice versa? Or just the whole book in whichever language you prefer as a solo... or some of the stories in the Multilingual or German Short Works and some here ... or any combination! However you do it, the stories will be searchable in the catalogue, so really however you would prefer to do it .

OK, since you don't have a preference, I'll just do the German one as a solo and leave the English one here as a suggestion... best read by someone American (there is no info on the translator).RuthieG wrote:Well, I suppose you could record one story in English for this collection, and the whole book in German as a solo... or vice versa? Thanks for the quick feedback!

I see there are a couple of slots left so could I do another one please?
It will be ' A Point of Detail' from "No Man's Land" by 'Sapper' (H.C. McNeile), a sort of on the front line detective story.

Thank you, Andy. I keep adding slots! May there be many more! I have added you to the Magic Window for the Sapper story too.

I took a listen to your file and it is lovely! I so enjoyed your reading style, you made me think about what was really going on behind all the "normal" observations and it was quite poignant.
If I might suggest, I thought you could use a pass of light noise cleaning, and there's a bit of sound captured at the end, which repeats a couple of times - probably got caught by mistake as you created the silence for the end.
Regards,
MaryAnn

I feel rather better about recording my bit about Folkestone now, which I thought might have rather limited appeal. The BBC clearly finds Folkestone interesting : http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-25947649

Ruth,
I know this one has been done by quite a few folks, but never by me.
