We catalogue the collection as one project, like this one: http://librivox.org/short-ghost-and-horror-collection-023-by-various/, but all stories can be found separately in the search engine.

Nice job once again, Don!

I have just one suggestion for you. There is quite a pronounced hum (an electrical hum?) at 120 hz throughout the recording. I didn't hear it at all in your first submission. Notice the thick, fuzzy center line of track between sentences? I don't know if you use Audacity to record or edit, but if so, we can mitigate the hum using the Notch Filter effect. If you do a Ctrl-A to select the entire track, then go to the Top Menu Bar and select Effect | Notch Filter. Set the Frequency at 120, Q-Value at 10.0, then click OK.

Give it a try and see if you are pleased with the results. Best solution, of course, is to locate and eliminate the source of the hum in your recording environment. Electrical appliances running nearby? Fluorescent lights? Anyway, let me know if you have any questions. And thanks again for another Poe tale!
Kind regards,
Lucretia

Ooooh, that was a good one! Spooky final sentence!

The volume is a little too high at 92.5 dB. Could you please amplify by -3.0 to bring it closer to our goal of 89 dB? (If you use Audacity to record and edit, just do a Ctrl-A to select the entire track, then go to the top menu bar and select Effect | Amplify. Set the Amplification at -3.0 and then click OK.)

That's it! Post the link here again after you have uploaded the corrected file, and I'll take another quick look. :)

Easy fix! Here you go...the link with amplification reduced as you requested.

Thanks for catching that.
I believe that may be caused by a florescent light in the room.

I followed your instructions in Audacity and the hum has been reduced noticeably.
The new file (same name) has been uploaded. Thanks and have a nice weekend.

Yes--been there, done that. I have at times recorded in my sewing room--and I walk in, flip on the fluorescent lights as a matter of habit. I finally put a little sticky note beside my microphone to remind myself to turn off those overhead lights before beginning to record. Thank you for the edited file, Don--and do have a good week ahead.

Hi

Please consider The Valley of Spiders by H.G Wells.

https://librivox.org/uploads/bart/ghohor024_thevalleyofspiders_hgwells_rd.mp3

Link to text...http://www.gutenberg.org/files/1743/1743-h/1743-h.htm

Taken from Twelve Stories and a Dream by H.G Wells. The Valley of Spiders is the third story.
The runtime is 23m 47s.

Hope it's okay.

Thanks.
Rob

Hi again, Rob--Great job on your recording!

Section 05 (The Valley of Spiders): PL OK

Just FYI for future recordings: The file name should also include "_128kb" as part of the name. Check out the naming convention in the first post instructions in this thread. But no need to upload again. Our MC, Bart, can fix it behind the scenes.

Hope to hear lots more from you! :)
Kind regards,
Lucretia

Speaking of file names, Bart--I'm just noticing that the file name for Section 01 show "_128kps" instead of "_128kb". This may be something that you should correct behind the scenes and in MW before cataloging? :hmm:
Kind regards,
Lucretia
