Hello Tricia,
This will be my first narration, and I would like to begin with Section 31 (Pt 4, Ch 43). Am traveling now, but expect to send in my test recording early next week. For the catalog, I would like to be credited as "Dave Gillespie" (which is the name I will use in recording), unless there is a duplicate.

Have been narrating eLearning modules at the corporation where I work for some years, and as a long time fan of recorded books, I am looking forward to contributing some narrations.
Regards,
Dave Gillespie

Welcome, Dave! You're in the system as Dave Gillespie (I looked; no one else is in the catalog with that name). And you're assigned section 31. Sounds like you know what you're doing with the test and all. :) I look forward to hearing you!

Section 21:

13:13-13:17 - a bit of a long gap.

Otherwise OK. :) Nicely read!

Hi Tricia,
Had my test approved yesterday :D , so I expect to begin recording soon.

Two questions:
1. In sampling Vol 1, it appears that some readers read through the entire table of contents at the beginning of a chapter, while others list the first few subjects and then say, "etc., etc.". The contents list for Chapter 43 is extensive. But I am thinking I should read it in its entirely. One reason: I found when skimming through Vol 1 that it was useful to hear the entire contents when deciding whether to listen to that chapter or not.

2. There are many long quoted passages. Shall I add "quote . . . end quote" at the beginning & end of the passage? It seems reasonable to identify longer quoted passages in some way (especially to signal the user that we are switching from the quotation back to Davis' own text). On the other hand, when only a few words are quoted, as in . . . If the States government is instituted with certain powers which become "just powers" by the formal consent . . . I would argue that "quote . . . end quote" is awkward and probably unnecessary: it can be shown by inflection of the voice.

If you have established rules for any of this, I'd like to stick to them. Thank you.
Dave

I'm disappointed to hear that some of the chapters started with a short list, then "etc. etc.". :( I had asked for the headings to be read in that as well as in this project. So yes, please read them all. It seems tedious, but I think it's for the best, as you mentioned. :)

And I agree with your proposed strategy for quotes.

Sounds like you and I are on the same page.

Thanks Tricia,

In that case I'll fight on and claim Section 18, if I may.

Bruce.
