Hi!

[quote= Bricara,
would you like to do the spotcheck or shall I?[/quote]

"Fou?" is PL OK

I noticed only one little deviation at 9:30 :

Thank you, Bricara.

Standard PL doesn't require reading the text along (though I often do), so this is perfectly PL OK as it is.

Here are my PL notes for section 3:

Background noise (a high-pitched sound) is noticeable over the first 4-5 minutes. I'll let a more tech-savvy listener check out this aspect and whether it is a problem or not. It crops up again later (towards 11:00), but is less noticeable.

Have a lovely day, all!
Isabelle

Thank you Isabelle,

So, perhaps I should record it completely ? There are too many mistakes, and that noise, I don't know where it comes from. Voltaire is worth making some efforts. And I don't think I can easily edit such mistakes...

It is up to you, Françoise.
Maybe it is enough to re-record only the last minutes, starting from 11 min? And do a bit of noisecleaning on the rest of the file. You can find informations about it here: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Audacity_Tutorials#Noise_Cleaning
Probably you know that already. I gave it a try and it worked quite well. But I noticed that the file is much too loud. It has 95,9 dB. Please de-amplify by 6 and reduce the input volume a little. The Maupassant was what we are looking for.

As Hokuspokus said, that is entirely up to you, Françoise, but the beginning was fantastic (and so was the rest as well! these are minor mistakes), so it might be a shame to lose your whole rendition. I feel this is a wonderful tribute to Voltaire.

Excerpt from a letter of Goethe to Zelter, 01.06.1805. As Goethe does not name Schiller in the letter I added to the introduction and title "Zum Tode von Schiller".
In the pdf file you will find the letter on pages 207ff.

Thanks
