In 1917, Princess Mary, then 17 years of age, gave her name to this collection of short stories and essays from the most prominent authors of the time for the purpose of raising funds for the "Work For Women Fund". A few of the outstanding authors represented in this sparkling collection are J.M. Barrie with his essay on A Holiday in Bed; A. Conan Doyle; J.H. Fabre the naturalist with his well know description of The Ant-Lion; H. Ryder Haggard; Rudyard Kipling; Alfred Noyes ("A Spell for a Fairy"); Baroness Orczy (yes, that one); and Kate Douglas Wiggin. We do not know whether this book generated much money for the worthy cause espoused by Princess Mary, but it certainly brought together a wealth of stories that can supply us with reading and listening pleasure for many years to come. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. Need noise-cleaning?
Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The new (free) version 1.3.3. of Audacity has much improved noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.
