I'm not sure how to add my catalog name but I'm fine putting up Richie Franklin.

Here is a link to section 69:

'tis my first recording and my audio test. If I pass then I should have the other two poems over in the next day or two. Cheers!

Thank you! I've made note of the need for "test recording" type PL in the Magic Window. :)

Welcome, Richie!

Very clean recording and all checks are fine. Tags look good too.
(The volume comes in a little low, 86.9dB which is a bit lower than our target of 89dB, but certainly within the acceptable range.)

The only real note is that since I believe section 69 is the last section, then you need to add the end of book tag: "End of The Works of Edgar Allan Poe, Raven Edition, Volume 5, by Edgar Allan Poe . " This would appear directly after what you have.

Or maybe Tricia wants to add it.
I'll let her make the call on that.

Anyway, I think you're good to go for requesting other sections to record!

Thanks for contributing to this project.

~Larry

Excuse me :)

I would just like to ask if it is more preferrable for you for me to read the second part of why the frenchman with a fake accent :p or if i should read i using my normal speaking voice because the gutenberg version is written somehow phoenetically the way an old toothless man from the old times i think :p would recite it. I was having quite a good time doing the accent :p but i am not sure if it is appropriate because i can't keep the smile from my voice.

That is all. Thank you.

Peace and all good. :)

Read it as much as it is written as possible. I'm sure the smile in your voice is fine to have. :) Do you want to upload what you have, so I can hear if it's OK? That's up to you; it's probably nothing to worry about.

Thank you! I will need the run times of the files as well (minutes:seconds). :)

In this particular project, the ID tags aren't required to be correct because I can add them pretty easily at cataloging. In other projects (such as a poetry collection where the reader chooses the poems, ones with multiple authors, etc.) the ID tags are much more important to get correct.

So for THIS project don't worry about them too much, but still worry about them for other projects. :P

Selbravo:

Thanks for reading these two short poems, Section 21, Section 40.

Both are in need of some attention, however, before being marked as "OK."

First, the volume for both sections is too far below the LibriVox target of 89dB.

Section 21 is only 80.3dB and Section 40 comes in at 83.1dB.
You can try using the amplify feature in Audacity to raise the volume, but I'm afraid that trying to add 9 and 6dB might introduce some distortion. Since these are very short, it might be better to do fresh recordings. I find it useful to check each recording session using a program called MP3Gain which is available as a free download fromhttp://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/index.php

Second, during the one-second silence at the beginning of both sections, there are clicking noises, probably a mouse. These need to be eliminated.

Third, there must be a 5-second silence at the end, and both section have only one second, or less.

Finally, as Tricia has already noted, please indicate the exact recording time, including the silences, when you post your submission on the board here.

Oh, although it isn't critical for this project, as Tricia has indicated, you might try putting in the ID tags just to get used to it because you'll need to do that for most projects.

In summary: Submit new files correcting for volume, eliminating noise at the beginning, and adding a 5-second silence at the end.

Thanks for contributing to this project!
