Half-Past Bedtime by Henry Bashford (1880 - 1961)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/half-past-bedtime-1-by-h-h-bashford/
The wonderful adventures of Marian after she meets the strange Mr. Jugg. "And who are you, Mr Jugg?" she inquired. "I'm the King of the Bumpies," he replied. When Marian was puzzled there came a little straight line, exactly in the middle, between her two eyebrows. "What are bumpies?" she said. "My hat!" he gasped. "Haven't you ever heard of bumpies?" Marian shook her head. "Oh dear, oh dear!" he sighed. "Have you ever heard of angels?" "Well, of course," said Marian. "Everybody's heard of angels." "Well then, bumpies," said Mr Jugg, "are baby angels. They're called bumpies till they've learned to fly." "I see," said Marian, "but why are they called bumpies?" "Because they bump," said Mr Jugg, "not knowing how." (Summary by Phil Chenevert )
Volunteers outside the USA: Henry Bashford died in 1961. The author's work is still protected by copyright in places, like Europe, where copyright is author's death plus 70 years, and Australia (author's death plus 70 years for authors who died after 1955).
  1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you'd like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
  2. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
  3. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen.
Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
  4. Where do I find the text?
Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/35029
  5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)!
If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

    Need noise-cleaning?
Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The new (free) version 1.3.3. of Audacity (Mac/Win) has much improved noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.

    * To insure accuracy you may wish to copy/paste the following filename and ID3 tag info.

    Save files as
    128 kbps MP3
halfpastbedtime_##_bashford_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is your section number. (e.g. halfpastbedtime_01_bashford_128kb.mp3) (*note the new filename requirement)

    ID3 V2.3 tags
(To find out more about ID3 tags, go to our wiki: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/What_is_ID3)
Add the following tags to your .mp3 file (how you do this depends on which software you use – if you are unsure about ID3 tags, send me a message). Please mind upper and lower case!

    Title: ## - [Section title]
    Artist: Henry Bashford
    Album: Half-Past Bedtime

Please ignore tags for Genre and Track Number - these will be filled in automatically at the cataloguing stage.

    Transfer of files (completed recordings)
Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file.
Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
    • Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader:

      http://librivox.org/login/uploader
      Image
(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin)
    • You'll need to select the MC, which for this project is: aradlaw - aradlaw
    • When your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread.
    • If this doesn't work, or you have questions, please check our How To Send Your Recording wiki page.

I'm going to be away from LV for a while. I have had some serious family things come up and LV is to much at the moment.

I'd LOVE to DPL for this, if you're looking. :D What a cute story!

I've had a death in the family and won't be around Librivox much for the next while. I'll be back ... when I'm back. I appreciate your patience in the meanwhile. :)

Oh look, here's an MC now :D I'll set this up for you Halle.
Would this be a Group or Solo project ?
I see Phil did this as a solo last August.

David,
Did you add me to the MW? I saw you added Elley, but when I tried to get in it didn't work.

I also can't get into the MW for this - I have a temporary User ID, if that helps. ;)

Thanks Elley! I think he probably forgot to put us in, or did it but didn't save or something like that.
How/Why do you have a temporary User ID?

I'm not really sure. Something about the password keeps changing itself on my original ID? I guess it's a problem they had or are having with some accounts that are... newer? older? from the same time period as me? LOL, I'm not exactly sure, I just know that the ID I currently use to log into the MW was called by some MC's a "temporary ID", and sometimes when people add me to the MW they use my original ID (?) and I can't get in. :D

I've PMed you a temp password Halle.
As of March 2013, the BC password list is out of order. There will be temporary passwords issued as a temporary workaround until the software change happens.

Thanks I just got it! One random question, I'm okay for now because I can use safari, but on google chrome I had auto sign in on for accessing MW's and I have absolutely no idea how to change that info. Any ideas? It's fine if you don't because like I said I can use a different browser, but in the future it might be easier if I could just use my main browser.

---------edit-----
David,
I am SO SO SORRY! There was a typo in the template, the book is actually 14 sections not 15. I hope it's an easy fix not a huge re-doing thingy wingy. Again SO SORRY!
