Sonnet 18:
- File name missed the "118" on "spc118." I'll fix it.
- Volume still too low; it's even quieter than the other one. I'll fix it.
- Only 2 seconds of silence at the end. I'll fix it.
Now PL OK.
Silence: PL OK! Much better!
After Love:
- You have lots of plosives, some of which I can't hear on my laptop speakers, but which are clear on other (better) speakers. The poem is short; do you want to adjust your microphone placement and redo it?
Robert Frost isn't PD for me, so someone else will need to PL "Going for Water."

A few PL notes:
timnelson23: A Pact and In a Station of the Metro by Ezra Pound -- both PL OK! For future recordings, note that you don't have to repeat the title of the poem after the intro.
Johnbooth: Going for Water by Robert Frost -- also PL OK! One note: you have a few plosives where your breath is hitting the mic. For next time I suggest moving your mic a little off to one side (same distance from your mouth) so it's out of the path of the air. Your overall volume is reading within our recommended target range at 86.4, but I think the plosives are skewing the result a little, so you might turn up your input volume a little bit to compensate (just a little!).
Nice readings both!

Tricia!
How does this sound? http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/tg/spc118_closingrhymes_jb.mp3
Edit: Also gave Going for Water another shot. Played with my EQ and mic position.

Thanks, John! Closing Rhymes is great. I'll await Laurie Anne's comment on the Frost piece.

Johnbooth: Going For Water (v.2) is PL OK! Your volume is perfect now (89.7). You do still have some plosives; if you look at your waveforms you can see the spikes on B's and P's, and you can hear them too though they are mild and do not distract from the reading. So I want to stress that you are OK to continue as you are, but if you want to eliminate the plosives entirely, try moving your mic a little more. (If you hold your hand where your mic would be while you speak, you shouldn't feel any breath hitting your hand.) Your plosives are pretty soft, so I really don't want to harp on them too much.

Sorry about that. I've re-recorded it. Perhaps this version is a little better. I cant hear the plosives on my system so I'm shooting in the dark. I'll look for better speakers in an effort to remediate this problem.TriciaG wrote:

Looks good. I can often see the plosives in the wave forms before I hear them on my laptop. I can usually hear them on earbuds as well, rather than resorting to a whole better sound system.
I upped the volume on this for you - that's something I'd probably do at cataloging anyway. It was a bit low at 84.3 dB. All OK now.
Thanks!
