Phillip,
 What a trip! It's like reading an adventure story!

I have a perfect smilie for when the donkey impacts your recording, but I can't access it from work as the site is blocked. I'll try to remember to pull it down for you this weekend.

My sense is that they can be loud - do you really think there is enough sound-proofing in the world to make a whisper room in the donkey barn?

LOL - yes they do intrude somewhat in the 2-or-3 hours leading up to feeding time . . . which in turn reminds the ducks and geese that THEY ought to be fed as well. I've just fed the donkeys - one has a hoof issue which requires that we give him medication - so it is hidden within a shredded wheat biscuit (with a dusting of cinnamon powder) - but he must eat that before he can have his carrot - which means that the other two have to wait (loudly) for their carrots so that he doesn't see it.

Phillip - Here's the smilie that your donkey tales made me think of:

You can find it (and many other cute ones) here:

Thank you MaryAnn - you have rekindled my quixotic idea to market individually (expensively) packaged dehydrated donkey-dollops as organic nutritonal supplements to potted plant owners!
