Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
(Please leave no more than 0.5-1 second of silence at the beginning of your recording!)
Midsummer by William Cullen Bryant, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]
Then read the poem:

A power is on the earth and in the air
From which the vital spirit shrinks afraid,
And shelters him, in nooks of deepest shade,
From the hot steam and from the fiery glare.
Look forth upon the earth—her thousand plants
Are smitten; even the dark sun-loving maize
Faints in the field beneath the torrid blaze;
The herd beside the shaded fountain pants;
For life is driven from all the landscape brown;
The bird has sought his tree, the snake his den,
The trout floats dead in the hot stream, and men
Drop by the sun-stroke in the populous town;
As if the Day of Fire had dawned, and sent
Its deadly breath into the firmament.
At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.

Save your recording as an mp3 file using the following filename and ID3 tag format:
File name - all in lowercase: midsummer_bryant_your initials in lowercase.mp3 (eg. midsummer_bryant_klh.mp3)

ID3 tags (Version 2):
Artist Name: William Cullen Bryant
Track Title: Midsummer - Read by YOUR INITIALS (eg. Midsummer - Read by KLH)
Album Title: LibriVox Weekly Poetry
Comments: (optional) Recorded by [your name]

For hot and dry I went for quiet, therefore close to mic, therefore recording a bit furry. But okay I think. :wink:

Sitting here in the Pacific NorthWet, I wouldn't mind a bit of the heat sent up my way - still waiting for summer :cry:

What is this "summer" of which you speak? It sounds like devil's work. :shock:

Not exactly "the good old summertime" where "the livin' is easy," is it? These fish ain't jumpin' and the cotton probably ain't high.

This poem sounds a lot like a disaster movie. :twisted:

Thank you Jason, Jannie, Len, Alan, Dean and Mark. :thumbs:
tekksavvy, your file needs Noise Reduction and the silence cut down to 5 seconds, please. :wink:
