Bowser the Hound by Thornton W. Burgess (1874 - 1965)

This project is complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page:
http://librivox.org/bowser-the-hound-by-thornton-w-burgess/

Volunteers outside the USA: Thornton W. Burgess died in 1965. The author's work may still be protected by copyright in places like Europe, where copyright is author's death plus 70 years, Australia (author's death plus 70 years for authors who died after 1955) or Canada (author's death plus 50 years).
Bowser the hound is led away from home by the wily Old Man Coyote, and he gets lost. Will Bowser find his way home again? Will Old Man Coyote eat all of the chickens in Farmer Brown's henhouse while Bowser is away, or only some of them? Just how loud is a hound dog, anyway? All this and more in Bowser the Hound. (Very temporary summary. I am recording this book in honor of our own hound dog, whose voice is music to our neighbors' ears, three streets away.)
  • Target completion date: 2013-Jan-31
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/15168
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

If you need a DPL, I would be glad to do it in honor of our Basset Hound who I am sure could be heard miles away. :D

That would be great, Allen, thanks!

I love Bassets. They have possibly even more entertainment potential than ours. :) (We have a Walker coonhound, plus a little terrier mix who just looks at him and shakes her head. Figuratively.)

Great job Laurie, Sections 01 & 02 both PL OK :) :)
This is our third Basset and we've loved them all. They aren't necessarily the most trainable dogs but they are great fun. We also have a mixed breed terrier and we just took in a dog that was found near us which looks like a King Charles Spaniel mix. If we don't find the owners, it looks like we'll have one more in the house.

Thanks very much, Allen! If your dogs are like ours, the hound will be happy enough about the new dog but the terrier mix will be suspicious. ha! Good luck with the new one and good for you for taking it in!

Next section is up, and I've moved us over to Going Solo.

Section 03 PL OK :)
Yes, the new dog and our Basset have been outside chasing each other around while our terrier mix just watches them with an expression saying "Oh no, not another one" :D
