I thought as long as there was no cut-off (distortion) it was OK, and louder was better. Apparently not, I'll keep it in mind next time - I could have easily lowered the recording volume, which would have been better, as there would've been less noise.
I didn't know about mp3gain. Can Audacity give me this information?
#05 - Bulgarian - Баланиади (Balaniadi) is PL OK!

Audacity by itself can't give you a dB measurement, but visually the waves should spike around the 0.5 mark.

Hi Masa,
Thank you for your prompt reply! I will make sure to adjust the volume next time;)
I read the third one, which is the most famous one. Also, the Gutenberg text seems longer than the one I read, because the text is in both Traditional and simplified Chinese.
I could read other poems under the same name, but it would mean that the name used to distinguish them will be super long - the actual name plus the first verse of that prose. So I only read the most famous one.:p

Thanks again!

I see. Thank you for this explanation.
If possible can you do proof listening in French?

Cheers,
Masa

Hi! I'd missed that there was a French submission, and as I can PL in French, I've done so now.

10 - La Main: It is 92,5dB so deamplifying -3 would be good (though this is within the acceptable range). Also there's more than 1 second of silence at the beginning and 6,5 seconds at the end. Other than that everything is perfect. :)

There's 1.3 second silence at the beginning. I think this is acceptable.

So I make this as PL OK.

Cheers,
Masa

Hello magicrose san,
Thank you for your contribution.
There're lots of difficult rules. So please be patient.
As you posted directly to this forum, several things need to be changed.

1) Don't enter blank in file names.

2) Please change file name as
>> Save as mp3 file
>> File name all in lowercase: msw003_[work's title]_[author's last name]_[your initials].mp3
>> (e.g. msw003_chunsi_wang_drb.mp3)
>> Put file name all in lowercase, and the title all in one word (without the square brackets, please, and NO SPACES)
In your case it will be msw003_hatsukoi_shimazaki_[your initials].mp3.

3) Please put the file at lz - lezer

URL will be like
http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/lz/msw003_sennin_akutagawa_um.mp3

Cheers,
Masa

Hello magicrose san,
Thank you for your reording.
Now your file name is OK. I've downloaded the file.
Please fix the following items.
1) Please add 5 second silence time at the end.
2) Please make the volume 7.7 dB louder.
mp3gain shows as follows.
$ mp3gain msw003_hatsukoi_shimazaki_am.mp3
msw003_hatsukoi_shimazaki_am.mp3
Recommended "Track" dB change: 7.750000
3) Please add MD3 tags.

Cheers,
Masa

Ok, here comes something in Polish 8-)

http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/lz/msw003_odoktorzehiszpanie_kochanowski_pn.mp3

Answering one of Bob's questions, I wrote that I often record stuff that I remember reading in school. That's one of these. A short and humorous piece about somewhat aggresive hospitality

Title: O doktorze Hiszpanie
Duration: 0:59
Author: Jan Kochanowski (1530-1584)
Date of publication: 1883 (for this particular editon, the first edition ever was published in 1580s)
Author on Wikipedia: http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Kochanowski
Tags: poetry, poezja, fraszka, alkohol
Language: Polish

Btw: I'm planning on recording one or two more pieces with a duration of no more than I minute. Is that OK? I'd love to record a proper story, but it takes me a lot of time.

Yes, please. I have a few Polish language books. I'd like to listen them.
Even though only one night I visited Poland several years ago.

One night? I assume you were passing through Poland on the way to some other conutry?
Also, it's great that you have some Polish recordings. What type of books are these?

On the 30 second mark, the word 'paham', you should put the stress on [pa] instead of [ham], meaning, [pa] takes a long vowel, before proceeding to [ham], (it's like how you pronounced dunong.)
Otherwise, I can declare it as PL ok.
