thnks for proof listening sections 24 and 26 of the natural history of pliny.....
I noticed you had projects that needed readers so i helped my self and read chapter 04 of life and ventures of john jacob astor

Our DPL will give you feedback. One note: The file names need to be adjusted. They should be "lifeandventures..." Don't worry about fixing them just yet. If Kajo gives you corrections to make, you can fix the file names at that point. If there are no corrections to make, I'll fix the names on the server.

Here are some PL notes for the sections 00, 04 and 05.

#00:
Very good reading, Pamela!

It is PL OK beside one tiny thing I stumbled across: a strange 'word' at 3:09 in one of the book titles. Maybe caused by an OCR error in the source file. The title of the book is 'National Encyclopedia of American Biography'. It is very easily editable by using one of the other 'of' instances from the other titles to replace it.

#04 and #05:

Good reading, tekksavvy318!

Here are my PL notes for your sections.

#04:
File name (already mentioned by John): is 'lifeadventures…', should be 'lifeandventures…'.
ID3 tag for title: is '04', should be '04 - [section title]'.
Stumble at 3:29 before 'brother'.
Repeat starting at 5:18 'The old pastor had … among his parishioners.'
Stumble at 5:12 before 'for years'.
Volume: varies greatly between the first and the second part of the recording. It is suddenly much louder starting from 5:26.
Ending silence: is half a second, should be 5 seconds long.

#05:
File name (already mentioned by John): is 'lifeadventures…', should be 'lifeandventures…'.
ID3 tag for title: is '05', should be '05 - [section title]'.
Repeat at 0:26 'Chapter V' (I would recommend to cut out the first appearance from 0:24 – 0:25).
At 04:09 is a sentence that is cut off in the middle '… for the phenom-'.
Ending silence: is one second, should be 5 seconds long.

00 - Forword - Here's the 'O-V' changed to the missing 'of' text! You're right - 2 different texts!

As a side note, could you let me know when you plan to record a section? That way I can assign it to you in the MW ahead of time. If you record without claiming, you run the risk that someone will claim the same section and record it also.

Hi tekksavvy318,

Thanks for the edited versions of section 4 & 5 and the new section 6. They are almost PL OK:

All three files need 5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.

The ID3 tags for the title should be corrected to '04 - Waiting Years' (for section 4), '05 - John Helffrich's Journal' (for section 5) and '06 - Leaving Home' (for section 6). You can copy the needed title from the second column of the MW (labeled 'title').
Also, the ID3 tag 'album' for section 4 needs a small correction (capital letters L, V and O): 'The Life and Ventures of the Original John Jacob Astor'. The album title is listed in the first post under point 8 and can be copied from there.

let me know what should be done for future recording to make them sound like the first 2 chapters read by senior librivox members!!

For information about different aspects of recording you can consult the LibriVox Wiki Pages Newbie Guide to Recording and Improve Your Recording as a rich source. I had the impression that (a little) too much noise cleaning was used to clean up some background noise from the recording. There’s another WikiPage about Noise Cleaning which is quite informative. But it would be more effective and timesaving to try to reduce the background noise while you make your recordings by turning off noisy appliances. If you don't find what you are looking in these pages feel free to pm me.

You’re on the right way, tekksavvy318, section 6 is already improved! Keep going!
