Lampton was the second cousin of Jane Clemen (the youngest of the three daughters of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known by his pen name Mark Twain.) He launched his jounalist carreer in 1877 by starting the Ashland (Kentucky) Weekly Review, with his father’s money. Lamptoin wrote several book, as well as humerous poems he called 'yawps'. These were printed in the New York Sun and published in Yawps and Other Things ca. 1900. So sad... I am not dog person (per se), but I do cherish all animal life. Very sad - on all counts. I hope she was rectified to his burial before she passed. So many noble animals have served their people so well before passing. I cannot think their service any less deserving of honor.
