Whereas story is processed in the mind in a straightforward manner, poetry bypasses rational thought and goes straight to the limbic system and lights it up like a brushfire. It's the crack cocaine of the literary world. - Jasper Fforde

Here is my version of this poem that is readily understandable to a bibliophile.

Thank you! Lovely reading; PL OK. I thought it was wonderfully thematically apt myself.LenXZ1 wrote:Here is my version of this poem that is readily understandable to a bibliophile.

Thank YOU for the lovely reading! My only advice is to watch out for the silence at the beginning - in this file it is just a smidge more than the recommended 1 second, which you don't need to change, but don't let it get longer in future files. For everything else - just keep doing what you're doing.mistergross wrote:Thank you for another fun poem to record! Any feedback/advice is welcome.

This is my very first reading. I figured I'd start with something short and work my way up. Please let me know if there is anything I need to work on, if I messed up somewhere, or anything else that's pertinent. Thanks.

Thank you! Two PL notes: at around 0:40 you read "the Alpine's torrent roar" where it is written as "the Alpine torrent's roar" and around 1:11 "no more I feel fatigue" where it should be "no more I fear fatigue". No biggies, and everything else is great.aradlaw wrote:Here's one more Petra..

Thank you for your wonderful recording, and welcome to LibriVox! Since this is your first recording, I will need to know what name you want listed on your catalogue page (some people use their real names, others their forum names, it's all up to you). This is a very good first recording - your voice seems suited to reading aloud!RafaelPhoenixBlayze wrote:This is my very first reading. I figured I'd start with something short and work my way up. I do have a few small things you need to watch out for though. They are the formal things that are set out in the first post, so please make sure to always read the first post very carefully. Firstly, NO file names here should contain capitals, which yours does. Secondly, your ID3 tag for the "Title" slot should ONLY say "Travels by the Fireside - Read by PRB". Lastly, you have too much silence at the beginning of your file and at the end: please trim the beginning to 0.5-1 second and the end to 5 seconds. The reading itself is great!
When you're done editing, please reupload your file (without anything saying "version 2" or "final" or anything like that - just the file name without capitals please) and post the link and the new duration here.
Hi
This is my take on the poem and my first Librivox recording (not counting the one minute test).

I would appreciate any observations or comments that anyone would care to make.
Cheers
