IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

There should be 5 seconds silence at the end of the recording, or 10 seconds for files longer than 30 minutes.

I'll MC this for you. We'll still need a basic PL to make sure the intros, outros, ID tags, and tech specs are all OK, but I'm guessing this should go pretty quickly if you have them all recorded already.

Thank you. I'm reading all the FAQs to help me understand what's happening. Thank you!!!! Yes, it's all recorded. The first part is the incredibly boring and long preface. Do you want that? It's hideously tedious.
Okay - your magic window is up. You'll need to fill in the titles in the MW, as I don't know how you're breaking this up. You could probably just do something like "00 - Preface", "01 - Section 1", "02 - Section 2" etc. if there isn't any section titles in the text. (I assume you're grouping the fables together in groups of 20 or so.) Or you could do "01 - Fables 1-20" "02 - Fables 21-30" etc.
I originally put it on 3 Audio Cds. The Preface and the "Life of Aesop section takes about 30 Booooring minutes, but I put that at the very end of the recordings. On the CD I split it up into sections of 12. Each is about 15-20 minutes on average. So I'll uplaod the first Section right now.
In the Gutenburg text the Preface and Life of Aesop essays are at the end, but on other sites, it, of course, comes before. What do you think? oooh!!! I forgot! In the CD recording I don't have the Librivox opening. I will do that right now and then upload it.
Did you do any modifications to the file? It sounds like the voice is distorted - very, very growly and with some background noise in the vocals, but not in the silences between phrases. I listened to your test recording, and that doesn't have the same growly sound to it.
I think I know why. I EQ'd that particular test. Everyone says that my voice is pretty high endy, but deep. Like Alexander Scourby with a big nose. The noise in the background drove me nuts on that particular test so I Eq'd out it as best I could. Real breathy and growly like you said. I DID run both of them through a noise gate. There's a setting on the Realtek sound card I have that says "Noise Suppression" I THINK I had that on at the time on the test, but for sure it wasn't on when I did the Aesop one. The only difference between the two besides those things is that the microphone I used was different. I'm guessing you're talking about the test I sent in December with all the "ism"s LOL. I also read a lot for Wikipedia.
