I absolutely agree. Reading for LibriVox has exposed me to many pieces that I was previously unfamiliar with. A virtuous circle

Hi Lucretia,

Here's the next two sections, Progress of Emancipation in the British West Indies, a two-parter that I split up for length. The break occurs in the middle of page 136.

With the help from another forum member (thanks, Jim!) I have added some remastering to the audio. Let me know how you like the sound and if you think it will flow from the other sections.

Hi again, Rhonda--

Very nice readings as usual--you do so beautifully, even on the longer ones (which are still difficult for me to record). Couple of notes for you.
Section 26:
--At ~0:28 the text says "could be bought"--but I hear "could be brought back". This may not change the meaning significantly, so if you wish to leave as is, just let me know.
--At ~16:30.5 the text says "The spacious house"--but I hear "The space house".

Section 27: Great reading! PL OK But just for your information, there is background noise for about 2 seconds (from ~0:15-0:17) right after the intro. It is noticeable only because there is zero background noise anywhere else! :) I suspect that you intended to edit it, but I don't know that it would be worth another upload.

Section 28:
--At ~0:54 the text says "With meridian blaze"--but I hear "With meridan blaze".

The sound is just flawless to me, Rhonda. I really look forward to the day when I gain some more experience with Audacity. I just manage the bare basics because I am not very knowledgeable about using the software. It certainly gives me a much greater appreciation for sound engineers and what they accomplish!

That's it! Have a wonderful day! :)
Kind regards,
Lucretia

Hi Lucretia,

Looks like we have crossed paths on these messages. I have not yet looked at you notes but will do that as soon as I am done here.

Fortunately, section 29 has a bit happier ending than the last few... if you can have a happy story about slavery!

Lucretia,

I really appreciate the careful attention you are giving to PLing. I never know how I miss those things but I am so happy you catch them!

I made the changes to sections 26, 27 and 28. They are all re-uploaded.

I see we are sharing some recording time on some other projects - Satires and Profanities, Women in the Nineteenth Century. There are some great pieces in there! And your recordings sound great too! I always feel like I don't know nearly as much as I should about managing the audio quality, but there are many knowledgeable people on here and I continue to pick up valuable suggestions. Feel free to ask if you want to try out something new.

Hi, Rhonda--

Thank you for the compliment--I haven't done too many recordings yet, but I hope that I am gradually improving. I can't seem to get the breath thing down yet. But I have gotten some suggestions from others here, like trying a pop filter, so will continue to work on it. Other recordings here at LV are just great, and I'm always thinking, "I wonder how they (like you!! :) ) made that sound so good--?"

I'm an avid viewer of Phil's videos, and I've found them really invaluable. But maybe, as in so many things in life, experience is the best teacher?

I'll spot check 26, 27, 28--and then listen to the new ones in the next few days.

Have a good evening...
Kind regards,
Lucretia

Rhonda,

Your recordings are pro-quality now. I hope you know that LibriVox can't pay you.
