I see the correct file name in the title ID field, but it doesn't transfer over to the file name itself.

If there's nothing else wrong with the file, I can edit the file name and ID tags.

What's the file duration, please?

Oh, no. You read section 8, not section 7. :(

I will be happy to finish PL'ing this and put it in as an alternate chapter, so that you don't lose the work. What do you think?

Here's what I had so far, for future reference:

Volume is too low. I ran a compressor effect on it with these settings:
Threshold: -22 dB
Noise floor: -40
Ratio: 2.5:1
Attack time: 0.2
Decay time: 1.0

Then I amplified by 7.9 (maximum was 8.0, but I did it just shy of maximum). That put it at 87.8 dB.

2 seconds of silence at the beginning; should be around 0.5-1 second.

OK, I listened to it. It's superb - I'd love to include it as an alternate section.

The only issues I found were the volume and the silence at the beginning, as mentioned before. Then, at the end, you have 10 seconds of silence, then "end of chapter 7" with no final end silence. It should be a couple seconds pause, then "End of chapter 7" (and the "read by" info), then 5 seconds of silence.

If you want to include this chapter, please name it "amiablecharlatan_08b_oppenheim" when you edit and upload it. (It's chapter 7, but section 8 because one of the earlier chapters is split into 2 parts.)

Tricia, I can't believe I am such a knucklehead. So, please, clarify. What is it I am supposed to record. If Chapter 7 is two parts.....am I supposed to record the second half of that? I'm lost here. B

Ok...I think I get it. For some reason, Chapter 8 is section 7.

You're actually supposed to read chapter 6, "The Party at the Milan"

When you save it, it'll be amiablecharlatan_07_oppenheim, but in the book it's chapter 6.

Ok, I really am baffled. At the Project Gutenberg link....Chapter 7 is indeed One of Us. The Party at the Milan is Chapter 6.

Are we reading from a different text altogether?

Please point me in the right, specific, direction....because I am a wee bit confused.

The Magic Window sections are NOT the chapter numbers. Because a chapter was split into 2 parts in the Magic Window, the section numbers don't coincide with the chapter numbers.

So read chapter 6, but name it SECTION 7 in the file name.

Ok. I have downloaded and printed out Chapter 6. I am going out of town for a little bit, so this may not get to you right away. I will try, though to get it recorded and edited on Thursday but can't guarantee it. SOrry I screwed up.

That's OK. It is a bit confusing!

Do you want to edit the section you made, and I'll include it in the project as an alternate rendering of that chapter?

FYI, I'm going to be away from LibriVox (except perhaps in short bursts in the evenings) from Wednesday to Sunday. I'll try to keep up with claims and submitted chapters, but if I don't, you'll know why and hopefully have patience with me. :)
