PL for Chapter 16:

Again, all these are extremely minor and could be left as is if time presses.

3:23.0 "And you think it all an accident" -- an extra word "is" is read after "it"

5:40.0 "on the lower levels by the Fraser" -- the word "by" is read as "of"

6:17.0 "we rested one day high up in the Rockies" -- the word "high" is omitted

7:31.0 "and they were past any doubt the comprehending equal eyes" -- the word "equal" is omitted

11:05.8 "they are as ignorant of drought, murrain, pestilence" -- the word "as" is omitted

11:55.3 "I would risk a good deal of discomfort to get on to the land" -- the word "on" is omitted

16:09.8 "alas he had none" -- the word "none" is read as "nothing"

Try downloading Chapter 15 again; should work now.

Oh wait, that is still the old version; the new version did not upload for some reason.

Oh, bother! I am in Sri Lanka at the moment, teaching, and have somewhat intermittent Internet, but I'll check my copy and if possible upload it again. I'll post here when I have :)

15 uploaded again, 17.9MB 19:39. I hope it's the right one this time :)

16 corrected and uploading now 17.4MB 19:03

Sorry this is taking so long :( If I'd realised that it was three books I'd have put a later due date on it.

Does not matter. Really only reason I can see for it is to pressure the soloist into getting it done.

It just seems potentially unfair landing you two with a longer job than expected :( Still things should go faster and the third book has less chapters, I think.

Tim,

Don't worry about this taking a while. The pace has been just about as fast I can handle. :)

I'm enjoying the book and I certainly don't mind hearing more of it.

3:57.0 "I tried honestly to render something of the colour" -- the word "render" is read as "remember"

4:32.5 "In the Land of Plenty Trouble People laugh as people should" -- the word "laugh" is read as "talk"

6:42.5 "must now as always abide under the Law" -- the word "as" is omitted

6:56.0 "in the big cities, with their village-like lists of police court offences" -- the word "and" is inserted after "police"

7:00.5 "in the wide-open little Western towns" -- the word "little" is omitted

8:09.5 "but when it comes to taking thought, better thought, for her defence" -- the first use of the word "thought" is omitted

8:35.9 "that wages are so high" -- the word "that" is either omitted or too soft to hear

10:04.3 "and since money is spent on fleets and armies" -- the word "is" is omitted

14:50.0 "kiting back to the lands" -- Proj. Gutenberg says "kiting", read as "kilting", not obvious to me which word is correct

18 done and uploaded :)

There is a lovely comment on "the downward path of State aid" which neatly subverts some of K's other comments ;)
