I will try to finish recording this week. I have a family staying with me while they are waiting to find a house and their two kids like to play and run around so it's quite impossible to record in peace. sorry for the delay! :(

UPDATE 7/3/12: I listened to this on my PC at home and the volume seems okay. However, when I listened again at work, the volume is very low and soft. Please let me know if you are having the same problem so I can fix this.

Section 28: the silence at the beginning should be between 0,5-1 sec. Also the volume is rather low. (69dB according to MP3 Gain.... and we aim for 89 dB, though everything between 85-95 dB is ok) It would be great if you could amplify the recording a little.

Section 28 is still a little too quiet. (81 dB)

Do you have MP3 Gain? http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/download.php
It's a great tool to check the volume.

Hi Wina,

I took a look at chapter 28 and you can amplify it by 5db before there is clipping. That would bring it into the acceptable range.

However, before you amplify anymore, allow me to suggest you use the compressor on this file.

To Compress a file:
In Audacity go to Effects -> Compressor

Set the Threshold to: -12dB
Set Noise Floor: -40dB
Set Ratio: 2:1
Set Attack Time and Decay Time all the way to the left.
Check "Make-up gain for 0dB..."
Check "Compress based on Peaks"

Press the "OK" button.

After you do this to chapter 28, it will eliminate any spikes as well as amplify it to 89dB, which is ideal.

You're doing a great job, Wina, keep it up!

I don't use Audacity. I use Wavepad Sound Editor. I will try MP3Gain
