For MW purposes, evha and horsaholic have happily both contributed their voices to The 12 Days of Christmas Project.
Anyone else visiting this thread at the last minute is welcome to join, assuming I get your file in time for me to assemble it. To that end, I'll repost my initial message:

I'd like to include as many people as possible, having everyone sing the 12th verse, plus one other day/verse if you're so inclined. unless you want to sing it in it's entirety, that's fine too. :) I'll splice it all together when I have submissions. I've recorded the song in it's entirety on the piano, and have labeled each verse so it's easy to find. The accompaniment and melody are also in separate tracks if you need help learning the tune. I've uploaded that audacity file to mediafire here if you'd like to use that as a guide track. The melody and lyrics for this song can be found at HathiTrust, here.

Or, for those who want to keep it simple, you can use the mp3 here, slap on some headphones and just follow along:
(0:00)The first day of Christmas my mother sent to me/ A par-te-ridge in a pear tree
(0:13)The second day ... Two turtle doves...
(0:29)The third day ... Three French hens...
(0:48) The fourth day ... Four canary birds..
(1:10) The fifth day ... Five gold rings...
(1:34) The sixth day ... Six geese a-laying...
(2:00) The seventh day ... Seven swans a-swimming...
(2:29) The eighth day ... Eight ladies dancing...
(3:00) The ninth day ... Nine lords a-leaping...
(3:34) The tenth day ... Ten ships a-sailing...
(4:10) The eleventh day ... Eleven ladies spinning...
(4:49) The twelfth day ... Twelve bells ringing...

Your submissions should go to the folder for the rest of the carols, uploaded to rg - RuthieG with the filename 12days_rimbault_yourinitials

Thanks! :D

I uploaded Gesu Bambino of mine to
http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/rg/gesubambino_yon_skh.mp3

I have other carols I could submit, but perhaps we are out of time considering the deadline. I arrange the accompaniments myself and sing the songs as well. Let me know what else I might need to do.
I'm CatDuet for my username.

Absolutely fine, Paul.

This is just about done now, but it's not in the magic window yet... I think it needs to be before I can upload it? Maybe not.

[EDIT]: Ah - never mind...

MELODY: In 1850, Richard Storrs Willis wrote the melody called "Carol." Richard Storrs Willis (February 10, 1819 – May 10, 1900)

Let me know if you think I should go back in and e.g. edit out breaths... I'm sort of of two minds about them...

Alright - here's one. I went ahead and did all verses, use/abuse/disuse whatever you want. I assumed this did *not* need any introductory or trailing speech, so I didn't record any.

Looking forward to hearing how you're going to put it together!

Fabulous! Thanks so much Paul, it sounds great! I should get it all hobbled together tonight after work and have it posted before midnight (my time). Hope that's okay with your deadline, Ruth.

MarketaFei wrote:I really want to do some slovak christmas carols, but can't find any PD sheet music for them (or any sheet music for that matter). Top choices would be Do Mesta Betleme and Ticha Noc, but Búvaj Dieťa krásne could also be fun. If anybody knows where I could get some, I'd love help!
And I'd love to help you too, but I have no clue where to start looking, I'm afraid. :(

Catduet, I am really sorry but we can't use that midi file in a recording, because it is not in the Public Domain. The site owner states:

I managed to get a couple done:

On Christmas Night, traditional Gloucestershire carol, arranged by Cecil James Sharp (1859-1924)
URL for proof-listening: http://www.archive.org/stream/englishfolkcarol00shar#page/n41/mode/2up
Main URL: http://www.archive.org/details/englishfolkcarol00shar
Upload URL: http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/rg/onchristmasnight_sharp_rg.mp3

Come All You Worthy Gentlemen, traditional Somerset carol, arranged by Cecil James Sharp (1859-1924)
URL for proof-listening: http://www.archive.org/stream/englishfolkcarol00shar#page/n43/mode/2up
Main URL: http://www.archive.org/details/englishfolkcarol00shar

Thank you, Aravis, for all your proof-listening! And did I say thank you to Laurie Anne for taking care of things? I hope I did - if not, a very big thank you.

Paul, your breathing sounds perfectly natural to me. It would probably sound supernatural if we couldn't hear you breathe at all. ;)
