The Game by Jack London (Jan 12, 1876 – Nov 22, 1916) .

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/the-game-by-jack-london/

Jack London wrote at least four stories about boxing; A Piece of Steak (1909), The Mexican (1911), The Abysmal Brute (1911), and The Game (1905). The Game is told from the point of view of a woman, the fiancée of one of the competitors. This is to be his last fight and they are to be married on the morrow. Against her better judgment, she agrees to watch the bout. (Introduction by Tom Crawford)
  • Target completion date: October 2011
  • http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/1160 (only read from this text!): link
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): This effort will be PL’d by Shelagh
IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects (and hence the number of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Re-inventing the wheel is not a waste of time if, when you get done, you understand why it is round.

Chap 1 fixed and re-upped. Also fixed the time which was incorrect previously.
Chap 2 uploaded. I hope I did a decent accent for Silverstein. I tried to read it as I thought London wrote it...
