Section 51 has been PL'ed and it needs a few fixes.
The recording needs to be amplified, it is around 84 dB, it needs to be 89 dB.
I've amplified it some. I could compress the louder passages and amplify it more if needed. But I have no idea where you get your numbers (84, 89 dB) from. In Audacity, the levels are reported in negative decibel numbers (from 0 down to -60), with numbers like -50 being inaudible. According to this page Wikipedia, Sound Pressure, 85 dB can produce hearing loss! But I'm sure that is talking about a different measurement.
I get my numbers from a little program called mp3Gain which can be found here. http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/ Our experts here have determined that 89dB, according to mp3Gain, is the standard level of volume for our files. It gives us something more quantitative (like an actual number) instead of saying that the sound peaks need to be above that .5 mark in the Audacity. We use this program to see how loud the recording is, but not for adjusting the volume, which is done in Audacity. I could tell just by looking at the peaks in your recording that the volume was low, that is why I checked it with mp3Gain. I will recheck your recording tomorrow!
Thank you Danny! A couple of nit-noidy things here that you need to be aware of:
In the future, please let the BC know how long your submitted recording is. We need this information when we catalog the audiobook.
When you enter the Title in your ID tag, copy and paste what is in the 'title' box in the Magic Window. For instance, the title of section 61 would be:
61 - Chapter 11 - Christianity and Social Problems - Part 3
Let me know if you have any questions - thanks again!
