Hi Sandra,
I've offered to watch this project until Ruth is back on her feet. Should I attempt to do some of the outstanding edits or wait and see if Ruth comes back quickly? I'm happy to help, but I know you work together a lot and you probably have a groove going.

Hello Sarah,
Any help is appreciated. Welcome to the book!

Amplifying the files is my main problem. I have edited what I can but there are always bits and pieces I have missed.

All the best,
Sandra.

Hello again Sarah,
Goodness that was quick, thank you!

I think Betsie has a lot on at the moment so I'll take over the Proof Listening for now. If you could post the link to the edited chapter here in the actual thread as well because I can't seem to listen to the chapters in the Magic Window anymore for some reason.

All the best,
Sandra.

No problem. Here are links for 21 and the edited 22 as well.

I'm going listen to some snippets of other chapters just to see if volume, background noise, etc. are similar to what Ruth was doing. Please let me know if you don't like something I've done. I kept all of the raw files.

Chapter 28 is PL OK! Shall I amplify it for you or do you do that yourself?

ETA: 29 is PL OK as well.

28 and 29 are amplified and re-uploaded!

I think I may be amplifying to a slightly different level than Ruth was, but I'll be around during cataloging time so we can sort out anything that needs fixing. I'll try to do some more this weekend as time allows.

30 was PL OK except for some extra silence and a few bumping noises at the beginning and end. I edited those out and amplified it.

I'm starting to get into the story! It took a while, coming in to the middle of the book, not knowing the characters, etc.

Thank you thank you thank you Sarah! I will listen tomorrow and write back about the amplification level. I'm sure it will be fine if chapters 21 and 22 are anything to go by.

I know what you mean about the story. I read it through from beginning to end and was gripped. However, I recorded it out of story order, (it seemed like a good idea at the time). It did throw me at times. I won't ruine the end for you but the main characters have their ups and downs, a lot!

All the best,
Sandra.

Hello again Sarah,
The amplification level is fine. There's a bit of tape hiss but that's fine. (I kind of like it). You can hear the speech programme on my computer cut in at the beginning of chapter 28.

All the best,
Sandra.
