Arthur George Morrison (1 November 1863, Poplar, London - 4 December 1945, Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire) was an English author and journalist known for his realistic novels about London's East End and for his detective stories. Morrison's most famous novel is A Child of the Jago, published in 1896, The novel described in graphic detail living conditions in the East End, including the permeation of violence into everyday life (it was a barely fictionalised account of life in the Old Nichol Street Rookery). (Introduction by wikipedia and Algy Pug)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project will be opened up to a group project as soon as a Book Coordinator can be found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to have it re-instated).

I'm marking the first section PL OK!

And as an aside, it's delightfully snarky.

Hi Barry and Nullifidian

Progress update

I will engaged on non-Librivox staff for most of June (intrusion of RL, you might say) but plan to get back into this project early in July.

Cheers

I am leaving LibriVox for good, so I'm afraid I won't be able to see this project through as your DPL. Sorry. :(

Algy,
I would be pleased to be your new PL'er for this project if that's okay with you. If Nullifidian changes his mind and is able to return, he can resume as DPL most certainly.

Best regards,
Betty

I will be away on vacation starting later today through next weekend. The other MC's will be looking in to see if help is needed.

Thanks Barry

I have completed the inital recording some time ago. I am just being a bit lax about the editing. However, now that I have caught up on my dramatic projects I should be able to start soon.

Have a good holiday

Hi Algy,

I've PL'ed Section 01 and I noticed that at the beginning and and of the section you said it was part two. I wondered, since it's the beginning of the story, (after the preface that is) would you consider redoing that to say part one? That would keep it in line with the section numbers, the links and ID tags.

The reading itself is spot on. But what misery in the story already..

Thanks Betty

I will fix the intro - it should be part one.

I am glad you could comprehend the dialogue. When I essay those outlandish voices I am never sure how intelligible they are.

As for misery - we ain't even started!

Cheers
