Tecumseh is commemorated in lots of different places: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tecumseh#Towns_Named_in_Honor_of_Tecumseh
So I expect the pronunciation is another case of there being regional variations and everyone thinking their variation is correct. Pity Tecumseh himself isn't around to sort us out.

Esther - if you want to change the top post, feel free. I don't mind either way, and don't mind if there's some variation between readers. "Real people reading" and all that...

I really don't care how it is pronounced. It's just as Sean said though; there being the township local to where I grew up so I learned the way I pronounced it. (but I have heard it Tricia's way too).

I'm sure the readers will know it is the same person.
