I've been snowed under, missed everything for the last couple of weeks, but the half semester is over, and the next two weeks are quieter. So I hope to get more recording done!
What a shame I missed the great Fosco audition election ;)

If the Doctor is still open. I will do it.
Couple of questions... How do you say his last name, Goodricke. "Good-RIKE" "Good-reek" "Good-Reek-ay" "Good-Rick", etc..
and
Would "M.R.C.S. Eng., L.S.A." be read as "m-r-c-s England L-S-A" or some other way?
and
"Prof. title" means Professional Title?

Thank you, Antmusic. Welcome aboard
I'm not sure how to pronounce Goodricke.
RCSA = Royal College of Surgeons of England
I'm not sure about the other, but it may be Licensiute of the Society of Apothecaries

Would anyone else like to speculate?

I think Goodricke would be Goodrick, MRCS is Member of the Royal College of Surgeons, but LSA I don't know. If it were me, I'd read it as LSA - it's not listed in my Oxford Reference Dictionary, so I guess it's not current or widely known.

There are three paragraphs of a letter in 1 VIII introduced by the phrase: "Miss Halcombe began to read as follows:--" do you want me to read these (since Harold is narrating this); Miss Halcombe to read them (as she does hin the narration; or the writer to read them?
There is quite a lot of letter, though it is interrupted.... I have stopped recording just before the letter till we decide me what I should do.

I couldn't find specific filename info, but I think you'll be pasting my bit together with some other bits so it probably doesn't matter what it's called :)
Also, I'm not certain you want a wav. I think you do, but let me know if you want me to encode it to mp3 instead :)

I think that particular letter, as it is interrupted so much, should probably be read by you. What do you think?tim bulkeley wrote:There are three paragraphs of a letter in 1 VIII introduced by the phrase: "Miss Halcombe began to read as follows:--" do you want me to read these (since Harold is narrating this); Miss Halcombe to read them (as she does hin the narration; or the writer to read them?

I have my part (the doctor) recorded and ready for upload... where? how? etc?
I have it in WAV format as was discussed. I did not record the usual Librivox add on at the end, and I did not record an introduction with my name and the name of the book. I think that is what you are calling for on this special project. So, what is the final verdict?
Thanks,
Robert B.

Oupla, I think I sent my files in MP3, I'll send them back in .wav later.

I am sorry this has been delayed a few days, very busy time of year!
Yet, it is interrupted and one of the interruptions is a conversation. So maybe I should read it... though it would be nice to have a very lobng section of one voice varied by another...
If we did get "Miss Halcombe" to read the letter perhaps we could get her to record the two bits from the conversation that interrupts also:
I'm not sure, each "quote" of the letter is quite long... to complicate it further it's introduced: "Miss Halcombe began to read as follows:--"tina wrote:I think that particular letter, as it is interrupted so much, should probably be read by you. What do you think?

And I could record round them...Miss Halcombe paused, and looked at me across the piano.
"Did the forlorn woman whom you met in the high-road seem young?"
she asked. "Young enough to be two- or three-and-twenty?"
"Yes, Miss Halcombe, as young as that."
"And she was strangely dressed, from head to foot, all in white?"
"All in white."

Miss Halcombe is game if the management decides in favor of this plan.
By the way, Miss Halcombe has recorded her first section. She has pretended to be British for its duration, so please let her know if such is acceptable. She is willing to re-record if she must, but she has never quite come to terms with her filthy American accent anyway.

In my experience, nothing ruins a party like someone suddenly speaking Latin in reverse.

Hester Pinhorn, though illiterate, wants to make sure her part is marked off as "done" :)kayray wrote:Here's Hester Pinhorn:

Miss Halcombe is having difficulties with Yousendit! Her file exceeds the file sending limit! She needs a solution!
