jeanny,

Confirming message I sent in response to yours. I'm definitely still on board to read Section 4. (not sure if my reply went out or not...still figuring out how this forum works :-)

Hello Jeanny,

I'm editing Section 15 on my brand new laptop :9: , the sound quality seems much better than on my ten year old desktop. I should upload it within a day or two. May I read Section 5?

Cheers,

There are only a few small things that need fixing. Both the silence at the beginning and at the end are a bit too long. The silence at the beginning should be 0.5-1 sec and the one at the end should be 5 secs.
Also there is some background noise and the recording is a little too quiet. (82dB according to mp3 Gain.... we aim for 89dB, but everything between 85 and 95 is ok.)

Here is a good tutorial on noisecleaning and another on amplifying.

Downloading! :D

Hi again
Sorry for not doing this earlier
So I have amplified and cleaned
I'll go look for something that'll give me a gain on a Mac because MP3gain is windows only

I amplified at 1.1 so it should net out around 91 db
and its here at http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/tg/twilightland_02_pyle.mp3

Let me know how if this works for you?
Thanks
Paul.

It seems that MacMP3gain does work on Snow Leopard so I've run a version of that over the file too
at 91db if the file above doesn't work, we can try this instead
