Hi MissFleck13, welcome to LibriVox! I'll sign you up for chapter 16. :D
But first, I need two things from you:
1. Please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the
LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal web site/blog.
2. Also, if this is your first recording, we ask that you send in a 1-minute test
recording. This is not an audition, it's just to make sure the sound quality and
the recording settings are all right - often things can be improved at the
outset that are difficult to fix later. Please go to
this wiki
page
to find out what to record for your 1-minute test, and how to
upload the recording. In the LibriVox Uploader, please select 'tests - tests'
from the MC drop-down, and then post your test recording in the Listeners Wanted
forum, rather than in this thread - you'll get feedback more quickly there.
Please read the first post of this thread carefully.

I was waiting for section 1 to be complete before I started PLing the list, but it appears that Dread is mowing it down faster than I would ever have done. I tip my hat to you sir, and resign my position as DPL, if you're willing to pick up the mantle?

I'm sorry, Matt. I didn't mean to step on toes here. We can work on these PLs together.

If you want me to take over, I will. Otherwise, let's just stagger each other. Let me know.

Bah, I'll step aside. I'm working on other projects anyway. No toe-stepping has occurred! Each project needs dedicated members, and you certainly count!

Have fun!

Here are editing notes for Section 06.

First half of section tends to be loud, gradually decreasing volume to end. Plosives at b, p, t, th, and k sounds are noticeable during first half; they decrease as volume decreases. In future, place microphone to one side so voice goes past it, not into it. That should take care of the plosives without need to decrease volume.

Rich voice quality, with meaningful pauses for suspense.

5:15
Inserted that
"to other than [that] thee for gold,"

5:17
Inserted for
"I would sell it [for] thee for silver?"

6:05
Mispronounced vestibule ('vestibyule)
"entering the vestibule...."

8:56
Mispronounced vestibules
"sleeping in the streets and vestibules..."

11:08
Substituted men for from
"as I fear for thee from this young woman."

11:51
Inserted and
"[and] that he may sup."

12:56
Mispronounced recitation (resi 'tashun [long a])
"he ended his recitation...."

18:04 Long pause
"and if they ask thee,...'Why...."

18:17
Mispronounced ducats ('duh kuhts)
"every hair of her head is worth a thousand ducats to me...."

24:14
Stumble
"assuredly the Dervishes when about to leave us laid them there, without our knowledge...."

25:21
Mispronounced converse ('kahn vers)
"and they passed the night in mirth and merriment, converse and good cheer."

So... Since it's my turn for examination next, what does one do about the errors?

this should explain most of what you need. If not, let us know.

Hello friends,

As I have taken part in earlier Volumes of 1001 Nights I thought I might opt for a few sections here.
I saw that 16 is taken but 15 is available, so I could read:
15, 17 18, 19 and 20.
There is one problem (or two perhaps). I could NOT, I wasn't allowed access to the text for section 17! All the others were no problems.
The second problem is a minor one, I think. I might not be able to record for a day or two - or so - not more I hope. I find I have suddenly, very suddenly this afternoon, lost most of my voice, so will have to keep a low profile for a bit.
This winter does things to you, it seems.
Hope You will be back on your feet soon again Nadine.

Lars :)

Hello Lars :D
I've just tried to change the settings for 17, hopefully it works now.
Jeanny, I have not updated the window with Lars' claims
