Oh Wow!

I just dropped by on a whim -- it's like going to the bar to discover it's Free Whiskey Night. Mind if I grab 14? (Story of a Tengu) I love this collection.

Best,

Thanks Nadine!

It seems you like those stories, eh? Unfortunately I'm not sure if dear Lafcadio has more stories like these around...

That's why I'm grabbing them while there are some
Although he's been translating some of Theophile Gautier's works, might be interesting too!

That name does not ring a bell here, unfortunately :?

Lafcadio has some Chinese ghost stories and a couple of non-fiction books on Japan too. But I think this may be the last one of his Japanese ghosts?

Hi Ava,

I am wondering if it is OK to read Section 11 with my son (or maybe my daughter) jointly. He is a teenager and he said happy to read English part with my Japanese part.

How do you think?

Hi dill, I have given Section 11 to you for now, so nobody else claims the section... :D

Okay, so there are a couple of things if you want to do this together:

- your son or daughter have to sign up for the forums too, so they can get proper credit for their readings.
- all of those that read, please post a very short sample recording so we can see if the tech specs are correct. (details are in the wiki - guides for volunteers)
- if you read one section as a group, that means a lot of editing. What we usually do for one of our dramas is that everybody records their part, and then we splice them all together. It gives usually a quite nice effect in the end - just try out any of our dramas :D
- in your case, if all of you record at the same time, this is maybe a bit easier if you use a stand-alone microphone and take turns at the microphone. You will still have to edit out the noises and pauses this causes, but at least you will not have to worry about different background noises or too different volume levels, and everything is in one file already and in the right order, which makes editing much easier.
- I can always help with the editing, it can be a bit complicated for a beginner... :D

I think it would be a very good idea if you read a small section before you do this one, so you know how to edit a file, even if I do the final one for this book.
What about reading one of my favourite stories by Akutagawa - Rashomon - for the multilingual short works collection? (Oh, how I wish I could read this in English.)

I'd be happy to read sections 3 & 5 of "In Ghostly Japan." This will be my first reading.

Hi David and welcome to Librivox!

I have given Sections 3 and 5 to you, enjoy! Before you start recording them, however, please do the following for me:

- Please record a short 1-minute sample and post it over at 'Listeners Wanted'. This is not meant as an audition, but so that we check your technical settings, if it's to loud/quiet, if there's background noise... have a look for details here: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test

- Also, please let me know under what name you'd like to appear in our catalog. This can be your forumname, your real name... whatever you choose. We can also link to a webpage/blog if you like. Your personal librivox page - to keep track of all your sections - is here: http://librivox.org/newcatalog/people_public.php?peopleid=5727

Enjoy your time here! :D

And with this, we're off to 'Readers Found' 8-)
Cheers, Ava.
