BC: the link in the Summary is incorrect. The forward slash ( / ) at the end of the title of the document is throwing Wikipedia off. You need this one:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Declaration_of_Human_Rights

Here's the English version:
http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/index.shtml
They call me Threadkiller.

The link to the SIL ISO639 code page is broken. The end of sentence period is included in the text of the link.

Here's one to start you off. I have no idea what Article 29 (1) means, but I tried to sound intelligent. ;)

Laine,

Here is my contribution.

Link: http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/arb/human_rights_03_eng_jkb.mp3

Duration: 16:07

Language: English

Now that I have made a contribution, I will actively recruit other volunteers.

It is very moving to read this document and realize how much evil in the world is due to violation of these principles.

Oops, sorry BellonaTimes! I didn't see your comment when I remarked "fixed." That too is fixed now.

Speaking of the summary, it was suggested earlier that I replace the text of the declaration there with a good prose summary. Anyone else think that's a good idea?

Jim, Ruth, thanks for the excellent submissions. Jim, I too had the same reaction when I read it for the first time (though I uploaded my recording directly to the Internet Archive to test that end of our workflow (Jim knows but others may not that I am working on a larger project which is collecting audio recordings directly through the Internet Archive in addition to through LibriVox): http://www.archive.org/details/rosettaproject_eng_undec-1_audio-1).

Now, what username and password do I need to access BC Admin? I tried laine@longnow,
uploader password removed -we never put it in text , though the brackets may have been enough to stop it being harvested

Oh yes! Thanks for reminding me.

Tried that combo, but got the following message:

"Sorry, you can only access this page if you are the BC for the project"

Hi,

so I'd like to volunteer to read the human rights declaration in slovene that I found here
http://www.ohchr.org/EN/UDHR/Pages/Language.aspx?LangID=slv

I think this source should be ok.

It's just that I'm a newbie and I need some time to get the hang of things around here :) But I'd definitely like to make this one of my first projects if that's ok with you.

Hi tjashy!

Sounds wonderful.
That is *the* authoritative source for translations. :)
Let me know if you have any questions along the way.
