Yes Reece, you're up for HE. Please make sure you read the full voice credit in your files:

'HE, master, of minor importance, read by...'

Enjoy your role!

Kim, I'm really looking forward to your reading! I hope Troy has survived his allergies and will be back soon to finish off with Toby...
Cheers, Ava.

Thanks... you got it!

Here are the three sections for He:

Act 3 (1:25):
http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/law/barksandpurrs_he_3.mp3

Act 4 (0:23):
http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/law/barksandpurrs_he_4.mp3

Act 5 (0:19):

I tried reading the line in Act 4 with a pen between my teeth, as per the stage directions, but I couldn't make it clear enough to be understood.

HI Matthew (now I've got out your first name right... )

Nice reading of HE, thanks for your files, and so fast! I want to commend you on your pen-attempt  However, given the circumstances, I guess the first thing he'd do is spit out the pen when beholding the disaster, so it's just fine!

My PL notes:
- Act 3: There's a thumping sound in the sentence "Come my beautiful Kiki, my imprisoned one, come. You shall have cold roast-beef and some breast of chicken..." I can edit this one out as it is conveniently during pauses, so no need to worry about this one.

- Act 4: Yet another thumping sound during 'sure' of "What a place this is to be sure!" It's less disturbing here, but I'd be much obliged if you could redo this one (as it's just one sentence anyway...)

- Act 5: PL OK!

I'm not sure what causes those thumps (although it sounds like my upstairs neighbor walking...). If you notice something like that in the future, please edit them out or redo the part - such background noises can be quite distracting...

Thanks!
Cheers, Ava.

OK... thanks for the feedback. I missed all of those thumps when I was prepping the files... I guess that's why we PL!

I got the thumps out of Act 3 (1:25):

and I redid Act 4 (all 0:24 of it!... should be thump-free):

Must have been the chocolate lab romping upstairs. Or maybe Kiki just inspired me to blame it on the dog...

Hi guys,
long time no read from me and all that. Here's the final scene as it was the shortest to edit. (There are some intermitent speech programme sounds which I could not edit out myself and all audio files I post need to be amplified, [see my solo project 'I say no' for details]). I live in the UK, is that a problem?

Here's the file:

all the best,
Sandra.

Hi Sandra, thanks for your file - I'll try to have a listen tonight...

Madame Colette's works are not in the public domain in the UK (not until 2025), but if you choose to read it anyway, WE are not going to complain. It might be better not to advertise your location in such a case...

Good news! (For me, at least.) My allergies have finally calmed down a bit, and I go for minutes -- sometimes HOURS -- at a time without sneezing! ':D

I suspect they'll be totally done in a week or two, but I think it's already safe for me to start recording again. (Or re-recording/correcting, as the case may be.)

Thanks rashada, great that you had fun! I'll PL in the weekend...

Troy, it's good to have you back! Maybe it's best if you start with the edits - they are small, simple and SHORT :D With a bit of luck (and with the other parts all in) I may be starting to edit soon... :9:

Hello again,
I'm adding to the pl load,
here's section one, I put it as 00 because it isn't an act.
http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/law/barksandpurrs_narrator_00.mp3
There's some speech programme and Braillenote interference I couldn't edit out but a mere triffle for you all I'm sure.
All the best,
Sandra.

Hi Sandra, oh, it seems I'll have a busy weekend

I'm not an expert editor/noisecleaner, but I see what I can do - thanks for your file!

Hi Rashada,

I've listened to your file - you make a wonderfully overexited toy dog! :D

I noticed the following things - could you please fix them and reupload?

- your voice sounds a little bit distorted - did you noiseclean your recording? Please never do this for a dramatic recording! The reason is that we have to glue all the pieces together, probably amplify/deamplify them to fit with the other pieces... and the less often we do these things, the better the result. So, please reupload your original file - no amplifying, no noisecleaning, just a edited file without mistakes will do perfectly!

small mistakes:
00:05 I'm the darling little dog, so pretty! (missed, it's just above the picture. Please don't copy from below, but record again).
1:10 Palais de Glace (small mispronunciation: the vowels are great, just leave out the s of Palais - PALAI and the e of Glace - GLAC. Have a listen here for the right French pronunciation - take the first palais in the list and the glace right above it)
2:48 underneath. The th is a bit cut off.

Besides that, it's perfect! Thank you very much rashada!
Cheers, Ava.

Hi Sandra,

I've listened to Section 8 - great reading, thanks! I have the following remarks, could you please fix those glitches? I have given times (as per audacity) for what you should change. If it's not possible for you to insert it into the file, you can just send the edits in an extra file, and I'll glue everything together.

00:35 the other on his own particular cushion, proceed with the minute (you read: peculiar / proceeded)

2:00 then the door opens (you read: a)

2:40 Catching sight of Toby-dog / Silence (both missing)

3:55 Suddenly amiable again (Please rerecord: the pause in between changes the flow of the sentence)

4:19 The little dog trembling and in ecstasy (missing: and)

5:38 bristling ferociously (you read: furiously)

5:53 Fifi! my Zezette! My darling! there, there, goo, goo, goo, goo, you poor helpless little doggie! What did they do to her? Ooooo!--Ooo! Was it the naughty bow-bow? (missing - there's no role for the owner of the little dog)

5:57 End of Section 8 (missing)
