sans coffee:
I think I've just realized that on mornings when I can't add any numbers to a medium tough sudoku puzzle, I'll also be unable to participate in witty reparte ... or spell it.

but the spirit is willing
thanks for the primes!

Wyoming wrote:Insomnia...yes, that would be the reason I am up past midnight reading a list of primes. But let us imagine some greater purpose, if only to dream. Like having our recordings loaded on a disk stuck to the side of a probe leaving the solar system and eventually picked up by aliens, who having no other form of liturature except that of numbers, trace the recordings back to our planet and discover that language in a great deal more to offer than they ever imagined. For thier part they agree to give us the secret of making a perfect cup of hot chocolate. Okay, I get back to the numbers now.

I think the first upload attempt I maight have browsed/clicked the Audacity file instead of the MP3...

The second attempt stopped around the midpoint for no apparent reason...

Here's the third AABC:

Thank you so much, Wyoming.
Our Primes BC, who's supposed to do all the heavy lifting here, is busy elsewhere, apparently. Otherwise he'd be writing grateful notes and instantly putting your links into the first post box.

I apologize for being slow on the backup here.
Thank you thank you thank you.

Hello,
All of the files for this project are being kept on the nickydonuts server, which, as you can see from this post, will no longer be functioning as of January 30th. I have transferred all of the files on that server to the new LibriVox uploader, and updated the magic window. They can be found at these locations:

http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/ad/prime_aaaz.mp3

http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/ad/prime_aaba.mp3

http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/ad/prime_aabb.mp3

http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/ad/prime_aabc.mp3

There was also this file on the server, which seemed associated with this project:

http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/ad/prime_1000_2.mp3
I remember how, in college, I got that part-time job as a circus clown, and how the children would laugh and laugh at me. I vowed, then and there, that I would get revenge.

I've moved the proof listening thread for this project into storage -- it can still be accessed at http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3114 and moved back into the L&E forum when needed.

I wonder if perhaps we should find some way to wind this project up now ... it's not that people AREN'T interested in reading unusual projects, but it's good to have a clear stopping point, so we can get *something* in the catalogue..?
There's honestly no such thing as a stupid question -- but I'm afraid I can't rule out giving a stupid answer : : To Posterity and Beyond!

Hi there Rhodonite!
Welcome to LibriVox and the Prime Numbers project.
Before I add you to the readers list, what is the name you would like to see in credits? You make that choice once and it's for all projects.
Oftentimes folks use a nickname as their forum name, and use their real name in the readers credits. What's your preference?

We can also include a link if you have a website.

Primes and other short works can act as a test recording, so it isn't necessary for you to make a test first and get feedback. But you're welcome to if you'd like. I'll just mention that the things most easy to avoid are too-low or too-high volume and puffy pop sounds (because the mic is puffed and popped at; moving the mic to the side generally fixes that). And the LV wiki and newbie guide to recording have handy tips.

Most folks just dive. Humans are like that. ;)
And most folks who stick around to record a while haven't let the tech stuff get in the way of the fun stuff. Have fun!

Anita

p.s. Section 5 is yours. When you give me your reader credit name (which can be your forum nickname, no problem), I'll sign you up in the box on the first post.

Speaking of just diving in . . .

I'm new to LibriVox and was looking for something to test on when I found this thread. I wasn't able use the original magic window, but I did find a list of numbers that were divided using the same system http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/PrimeNumberList
According to the magic window sections aabe and after aren't assigned though the appear to be "claimed" in the List. I just went ahead and recorded aabe and aabf (sorry ab2525). There are only 40 numbers in each section so I recorded both sections together, giving the section name to each, and here they are in one file.

http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/ad/prime_aabe.mp3

It's great if you can use them (you can use k.julius as my reader credit), but if not I'll be happy just to get feedback. Thanks! :)

Hello, k.julius,

Thanks so much for joining in at LibriiVox!
Your reading is quite wonderful: well paced, clear and natural diction, and simply a pleasure to hear.
Your recording is practically inaudible and requires my system to be at maximum volume settings for a fairly faint result. Otherwise the recording sounds good -- no buzz / hum / popping that I detected. A little adjusting will help a lot with volume.

Our wiki has some advice on setting recording levels:
http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/HowToRecord

Don't let a little volume control discourage you atall. Read on!
Many thanks!

I'm sorry that I'm messing up the system of section request/assignment ; but I appreciated your encouragement so much I felt I owed the Primes another go. It looks like you were able to use aabe, so I recorded aabh and aabi. Here they are together in one file.
http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/ad/prime_aabh.mp3
You don't need to use them, but if these are at a better volume I can re-record aabe, no worries.

Hmm, Alex, the link no longer works for aabe.

k.julius, the new recording is a much better volume level! Well done! -- just a little bit higher still would be about perfect.

Thanks so much for pitching in Even More!!
And did you mess up the system of section request/assignment? I hadn't noticed. I think there might have been an overlap in recording numbers, but I can't be sure since aabe's link isn't working anymore (not in top box, not in your post ... weird).

thanks thanks!
