Hello there!
I would like to claim section 22 if nobody objects to my faint German accent.
Best wishes,
Christoph

Welcome!

As long as you're understandable, you're welcome. :)

How would you like to be credited in the catalog? There are places for a catalog name (some use a nickname, some their real name) and a web site, if you have one. CLICK HERE for an example of what I'm talking about.

Since this is your first recording, you may want to submit a shorter clip (a minute or two) first, so that we can make sure your technical aspects are all correct. It's easier to correct them before recording a section than after. ;)

Thanks a lot!

Sure, do I still submit it the "normal" submission way?

I'd like to use my real name, Christoph Mayr.
Can a homepage be added at a later stage? In any case, it's fine to leave that blank for me.

By "normal" way, if you mean using the uploader, yes. You can upload it to the Tests folder, then post the link in this thread or start a thread over in Listeners Wanted to request others check it.

Yes, home page can be added at a later date.

I don't have one, either.

Most of the tech specs are correct, but it's really, really quiet. Are you using Audacity? If so, a good guideline is that you want your wave forms to mostly peak between the .5 and 1.0 marks.

Here's instructions on how to increase your volume in Windows:
http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Audacity_1-2-3#Volume

You may also need to do noise cleaning. When I amplified the file, there was a background whistle: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Noise_Cleaning

The reading itself was great. I love the accent!

Please make adjustments, then upload a new test. You can use the same file name for the 2nd test.

thanks a lot, tricia! i guess i'll try to get a new headset tomorrow (am using a philips usb one at the moment with mac os x). i've been taking the input volume down because the background noise is much louder otherwise, and i can't quite figure out why. then it's gone at times and comes back out of the nowhere. with nothing in the room moving, no cables, wireless devices etc getting anywhere close the mic or its cable. i assume it's the mic and not some part of the computer or the connection, because when i switch the manual switch on the cable to mute the background noise is almost gone. (and i had done some noise removal already). so i guess it's time for new hardware. but thanks so much for your advice!!
