Here is my one minute test, anyone who is willing to give a listen let me know what you think :)
Hi!

I listened to your test. The recording should be mono, yours is stereo. The volume is very low, it can be solved amplifying. You have excessive background noise, especially after amplifying. Audacity 1.3 has a good noise-cleaning effect, you can find the wiki tutorial here. :)

I've also listened to your test blackcat44. Before resorting to amplifying or normalizing to increase your volume (which will also amplify the background as dii has noted above), you should check to make sure you have the recording volume for the microphone set as loud as it will go in both your recording software and also in the control panel under sounds and audio devices. It also sounds to me that you were not a uniform distance from the microphone as the recording is softer in some places than others.

There is some DC offset in this recording which should be removed before you start editing. A little more information about your recording setup (i.e. operating system, recording software and type of microphone) and we can make more specific recommendations. If you post this along information with your test recording in the Listeners Wanted forum, that is the best way to get help resolving initial setup problems. :)

PL notes for section 1:
some background fuzzy noise at outset.

In the intro, (~00:12 )"further information" instead of "more information" used. Don't know if that requires adjusting, someone please inform me.

 Well I guess that's what happens when I trust my memory rather than going from text. Anyway thanks Ann for spotting it. :) I don't know if it has to be changed but I want to and I'm going to. While I'm at I'll try to fix the 'fuzzy' noise too. Thanks again.

I'm a fairly new PLer so I don't yet know which "rules" are unbendable. I expect, though that what you recorded was fine though as it didn't change the meaning...
but I could well be wrong..

As a DPL, it's OK to mention it, and if it's not very serious [and I think this case is not] and the reader doesn't want to change it, then it's OK to leave it as it is. But the reader can change it of course :)
