Salutations!

I'd like to read
13 The Destruction of Carthage 6722 w.

However, I won't be able to get to it until after Hanukkah (December 11-19). Will this be ok?

Thanks,
HearHis

Greetings Again

Here is chapter 10 (24:54), and I had a lot of fun reading it. Remember, this is my first recording, so I would love to hear any feedback. And if there is a problem I would be happy to try it again.

Hi, section 13 is yours.
If you manage to get it done before the end of December, it will work admirably well.

Kristine. :)

Hi John! :D

I PL'ed your recording. Technical stuff is OK, your reading style is great :) I edited a few things. Firstly, the volume was a bit uneven, there were some big peaks and because of them Audacity didn't let making the volume louder. There are 2 things I can suggest. First is to use the Levelator [in Effects], it makes the volume even. Or you can de-amplify the big peaks one by one manually and them amplify. :) The other thing is a minor thing, in your filename there are 2 .mp3-s. When you export your file, you don't have to write .mp3 in the filename, the software puts it in automatically :) Kristine will fix the filename, so you don't have to re-upload. Otherwise very nice recording!

Thanks Dii

Glad you liked it. It's hard to know just how critical to be of one's self. And those technical tips are just the kind of thing I needed to know. I was actually using a program called Wavepad to record with, primarily because I'm used to it, but maybe I should switch to Audacity just so I'm on the same page with everyone.

Thanks for the prompt response.

John

Hi,
Sec 13, The Destruction of Carthage, contains a table.
http://www.mainlesson.com/display.php?author=abbott&book=hannibal&story=carthage

How do you want me to deal with it?

Shall I say,
"The included table lists the dates of major events of the three Punic Wars. During the first Punic War, which lasted 24 years, these four events are listed: 264 BC, War Commenced with Italy; 262 BC, Naval battles in Mediterranean; 249 BC, Regulus sent prisoner to Rome; 241 BC, Peace concluded, lasting 22 years.
During the second Punic War, which lasted 17 years, these five events are listed: 219 BC Hannibal attacks Saguntum; ..." and so on?

Thanks

This sounds good, please read this way.

I'd like to take the last two available sections, if that's alright.

Let not our minds forget your craft,
Or our memories lose your gift.

Hi,
Just to let you know that I will do my section the second week of January.
Sorry it's taking me so long, I've been pretty busy in the last 2 months.

Cheers

I'm sorry but I just got my new microphone for Christmas and should be able to get my chapter up by early next week. Sorry for the delay.

You would think a history book would mention dates to give a timeline perspective.
