Hi,

I'm trying to upload a short sample for my first reading on Librivox.

I first went to Librivox.org and logged in with my username and password. I then went to the main page of Librivox, and I saw a link there for uploads. I clicked on the link, and it said that I had to login before uploading. I had already logged in as a user, but I figured perhaps I had to do it again in order to upload. I tried my username and password, and it said there was no such name in its files. Evidently, I'm supposed to use a different username for uploading, but I don't know what.

David - test recording checks out OK. Your tech specs are all correct, and you've got a nice, clear reading voice.

The only suggestion I'd have is to back away from the mic just a little bit. You're clipping in a couple places (when the wave form hits the top and/or bottom of the window, causing distortion). You're plenty loud enough, so moving away a little bit will be just fine.

Chris - thanks for the sections! I'll get them PL'd soon (although right now I need to do some of my own reading). And yeah, it's a lot of work to read and edit some of these sections! 8-)

Tough sections with lots of French names. Ugh! Kudos to you. :) In these notes, I've probably butchered the names - I was going by sound only, and doing it while cooking dinner.

It looks like a lot of edits, but they're almost all just cutting out a repeat. The easiest way to do it is to work from the end backwards - that way the time stamps for the edits not yet done don't get messed up by the parts deleted in finished edits.

Section 19:

13:32 - repeat: "That old valet de Ferme"

14:10 - repeat: "Seeing the house open and deserted"

14:38 - repeat: "Upon Hebert La Plume"

15:41 - stumble & repeat: "The widows Rive and Barnard"

17:43 - stumble & repeat: "Trumphe... Trumphame"

17:49 - repeat: "A carpenter"

20:18 - repeat: "this will set fire to your house"

20:59 - repeat: "desolation reigned"

About 9 seconds of silence at end; it only needs to have 5 since it's under 30 minutes.

Section 20:

1:41 - weird F sounds

13:07 - repeat: "Though such was his conviction of danger, he..."

18:19 - stumble & repeat: "The probable death of this general produced a small degree"

Well I finally done a quick edit from those repeats I did. You sure caught a lot of those. Believe it or not there was originally around 50 stumbles and repeats but I'll get better in the future.
I can also explain that #19 had 9 seconds at the end because It was originally about 33 minutes then with the cuts it ended up to be about 28 minutes.

Thanks, David.

I've renamed the file to bookofmartyrs2_16_foxeforbush.mp3 (while this is chapter 18, it's section 16 of this project) and moved it to the km folder as per the naming instructions and upload instructions for this project.

I'll hopefully PL it tomorrow.

Thanks, Tricia

I'm still getting the hang of things. But hopefully after this first recording I'll have everything down pat.
