The Faerie Queene - Book 5. by Edmund Spenser.

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/the-faerie-queene-book-5-by-edmund-spenser/
The Fifth Book of the Faerie Queene contayning the Legende of Artegall or of Ivstice. The Faerie Queene was never completed, but it continues to be one of the most beautiful and important works of literature ever written. Spenser wrote it as a paean to the Virgin Queen Elizabeth, and to the golden age which she had brought to England. Sponsored by Sir Walter Raleigh and commended by the foremost literary minds of his day, Spenser's book remains one of the crowning poetic achievements of the Elizabethan period.(Summary by Annise)
  1. How to claim a part, and 'how it all works' here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are up for grabs. Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you'd like to read (include the blue number, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
  2. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
  3. Is there a deadline?
Target completion date of this project: October 1, 2009, but try to send your recordings as soon as you can. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen.
  4. Where do I find the text?
    Please only read from: http://www.uoregon.edu/~rbear/fqintro.html
  5. Please claim sections using the section number in the 'magic window' below
  6. Proof-listening
-- Do the intro and disclaimer match the instructions in the first post of the project thread?
-- Are there any long silences or pauses that ought to be edited out? If so, note the time.
-- Are there any stumbles or repeats that ought to be edited out? If so, note the words and the time.
-- Is there excessive background noise, a constant hiss or buzz that detracts from the reading?
-- Did you need to turn your volume up unusually high to listen to the recording? (Or did you find the recording too loud?)
-- Are the correct closing words used at the end of the recording, as per the first post of the project thread?
-- Are there 5 seconds of silence (10 if the recording is more than 30 minutes long) at the end of the file?

    MAGIC WINDOW:

Hi. Have finished this canto, but have lost my internet connection (we were struck by lightning). Will upload when service is restored - probably on Wednesday.

In the thread for book 4, Alan Brown had asked to get the next available canto in book 5. So, I am giving him canto 3.

I am determined not to be beaten by a dead poet.

So, please ignore my earlier retreat, and allow me to assay Canto 4.

Morgan

LOL That's the spirit, Morgan!!! Edmund Spenser is buried in 'Poets' Corner', Westminster Abbey next to Chaucer if you want to go shake a fist at him.
